National Arena League Team Outlook

The National Arena League (NAL) is adding teams and holding conferences for teams, but one thing that catches our eye is the possible return of the Monterrey Steel. Here is the National Arena League team outlook.

National Arena League Team Outlook

The Monterrey Steel made a video and posted it to Facebook on Sunday, November 19, 2017, announcing that they would be returning, meaning they could be back for the 2018 season.

This hasn’t been confirmed from the league yet, but the league said that they passed their deadline to re-join the league, although was given another chance. The NAL was waiting for the final decision.

Finally, the Steel made their decision, worked a lease out with Arena Monterrey, and got approved by the NAL.

This “addition”, or return, would put the league at six confirmed teams.

2018 National Arena League
Confirmed Teams
Jacksonville Sharks (FL)
Columbus Lions (GA)
Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (PA)
Jersey Flight (NJ)
Massachusetts Pirates (MA)
Rumored/Projected Teams
Carolina Cobras (NC)
Maine Mammoths (ME)
Monterrey Steel (MEX)
Orlando (FL)

Confirmed teams consist of the Jacksonville Sharks; Columbus Lions; Lehigh Valley Steelhawks; Jersey Flight; and Massachusetts Pirates.

The rumored/projected teams include the Carolina Cobras, from Greensboro, NC; Maine Mammoths, from Portland, ME; Monterrey Steel, from Monterrey, MX; and arguably the most exciting one, Orlando, FL.

There is only one reason why the Steel isn’t in the confirmed section, which is because the league never announced it or made anything public. As always, one person, post, or comment doesn’t decide what is and isn’t true. We learned that when former Steel receiver London Crawford said that there would be no team in 2018.

Rumored and Projected Teams

The Cobras and Mammoths could be announced anytime from this week (November 20) to December 1, according to Jeff Bouchy, NAL Expansion Chairman and Jacksonville Sharks Owner.

Bouchy also said on November 15 that the Monterrey Steel and Orlando has five to seven days to make a decision to join the NAL, which means the fifth day would be Monday, November 20, and the seventh day would be Wednesday, November 22.

It is also unclear as to what Orlando’s team name would be, if they end up joining the league.
