Iowa Barnstormers downed 66-32 in United Conference Championship

Iowa Barnstormers downed by Sioux Falls

The Sioux Falls Storm are heading to a 9th consecutive United Bowl, following their 66-32 win over the Iowa Barnstormers on Saturday.

The dynasty that lives in South Dakota outplayed the Barnstormers in each way possible, but the game didn’t start out like that.

Iowa Barnstormers downed 59-32 in United Bowl Championship

Dee Maggitt Jr. received the first kickoff and returned it 50 yards for a Barnstormers touchdown. Without the offense stepping on the field, Iowa had a 7-0 lead.

Iowa would kick the ball off to Sioux Falls’ Korey Williams, who would mirror Maggitt and return the kick for a Storm touchdown.

The game was knotted up at 7-7 with 13:40 to play in the 1st quarter, but from then on it was all Sioux Falls.

The Storm would go on to score 28 more unanswered points, and didn’t miss a beat during the entire stretch.

Sioux Falls led 35-7 with 4:40 to play in the 1st half.

Iowa’s offense would finally make a charge down the field, as Rasheed Williams took a toss six yards into the end zone.

However, a Storm field goal as time expired put Sioux Falls up 38-14 at Halftime.

Turnovers haunted the Barnstormers throughout the game, as quarterback Travis Partridge threw four interceptions, and the team lost two fumbles.

Sioux Falls picked up where they left off in the second, as Robbie Rouse ran in for a score on the first possession of the second half.

After a miscue and an interception for Iowa, Rouse would run another, scoring his second touchdowns of the game.

Iowa trailed 52-14, but fought like the game was tied. The Barnstormers had their most mistake-free possession of the night, ending with a Ryan Balentine touchdown.

Iowa would get a turnover on downs and score again to make it 52-26, after missing the two-point conversion.

The attempt at the rally proved to be too little and too late for the team, though, as Sioux Falls would take the victory.
