Jacksonville Sharks Defeat Corpus Christi Rage 71-6 In Historic Night

Mo Williams for the Jacksonville starts things off fairly quick with the opening kickoff returned for a touchdown, making the score 7-0 after a successful PAT by Nick Belcher.

The Rage kick things into gear, scoring a 30-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Cool to Edward Victorian. The PAT from Tyler Brandenburg was no good.

The Sharks are looking good with a pair of touchdown rushes from Fullback Derrick Ross later in the opening quarter. Belcher also scored 2-points for the Sharks on a kickoff. The first quarter ends with a score of 24-6 with the Sharks on top.

The scoring continued for Jacksonville in the second quarter with a safety. Jacksonville’s defense was all over Cool the whole night which caused a lot of mistakes for the Rage.

Sharks quarterback Damien Fleming threw a touchdown pass to Darryl Thompson on the Sharks first drive of the quarter. Belcher makes the PAT and makes yet another two-point kick, his second on the night.

The Rage aren’t finding any answers, being forced to attempt a field goal on 4th down. Brandenburg kicks the ball in the air, but doesn’t have enough power to get it through the uprights. In fact, hit ball is returned by Erick McIntosh for another Jacksonville touchdown.

The first half ends with a missed field goal from Belcher with the score 42-6.

The third quarter was pretty silent with Jacksonville and Corpus Christi both going back and fourth with scoreless drives. Keep in mind that Jacksonville purposefully does this to control the game and the time-of-possession.

Finally, the Jacksonville Sharks scored with a touchdown pass from Fleming to Ross with a two-point play from Belcher to make the score 51-6 with 3:22 to go in the third.

The Sharks continued to pad their lead with a pick-six from Linebacker Charlie Hunt, ending the third quarter.

The fourth quarter starts just like the third quarter did with silent drives for both teams. Sharks put their backup rookie quarterback Daniel Farley into the game and he scored a rushing touchdown.

To seal the victory and end the game, Ross rushed for one last touchdown. The final score in Jacksonville: Sharks 71, Rage 6.

This final score was the most Jacksonville has scored this season and the least Corpus Christi has scored this season.

Tonight’s game was another record-breaking game. Belcher made four, yes FOUR, two-point plays.
