Team USA Names Final World Cup Roster

Team USA has named their 23 man roster for the 2016 World Cup.  Added to the 16-man preliminary team roster that was named on March 2nd are defencemen Jack Johnson, Erik Johnson, and Matt Niskanen; along with forwards David Backes, Brandon Dubinsky, Ryan Callahan and James Van Riemsdyk.

The most notable omission is Phil Kessel who starred for the U.S. squad at the 2014 Olympics and is having an excellent playoff campaign for the Pittsburgh Penguins. New York Islanders forward Kyle Okposo is also a notable name not on the list.

The forward group features a number of familiar names with Art Ross Winner Patrick Kane,  T.J. Oshie, Max Pacioretty, Derek Stepan, and Zach Parise, being recognizable names in a group full of international experience.

The goaltending features former Conn Smyth winner Jonathan Quick, while the defence is led by Ryan Suter, Ryan McDonagh, John Carlson and Dustin Byfuglien.
