Wrestlemania Predictions and Analysis

Wrestlemania Kickoff Match #1
The Usos vs. The Dudley Boyz

Winners: The Usos

Who Pins Who: Jimmy pins D-Von

Thoughts: A secondary tag team match is an important part of this show. After years of complains that the tag division doesn’t have anything else going on aside from the title, this match proves the product has a stronger division. Instead of making the match a meaningless aside, the teams have something to fight for. The only dissapointing thing is that the match will not be featured on the main card, but perhaps being on preshow will allow for the teams to get some time to tell a story in the ring. After the Dudleys have gotten the one on the Usos in the last few weeks, I see a Uso victory, possibly as the first match to set the tone for the evening.

Wrestlemania Kickoff Match #2
The Total Divas (Brie Bella, Natalya, Paige, Alicia Fox and Eva Marie) vs. B.A.D. and Blonde (Lana, Naomi, Tamina, Emma and Summer Rose)

Winners: Team B.A.D. and Blonde

Who pins who: Lana pins Brie

Thoughts: With Brie leaving the company after Wrestlemania, the most logical way for her to go out would be to give Lana the rub of pin fall victory. Eva Marie’s addition, which clearly perturbed her teammates on Monday Night Raw, could lead to her turning on her partners during the match, costing the faces the victory and possibly turning her X-Pac heat into real heat here. 100,000 booing Eva Marie would make for a great episode of Total Divas, especially with the loss of Bellas as in ring competitors for the time being.

Wrestlemania Kickoff Match #3
United States Championship
The Ryback vs. Kalisto (c)

Winner: The Ryback

Thoughts: Ryback rules! (That was just a joke, the real analysis is to follow). Ryback’s recent change in personality has reenergized his character, focusing on his strengths. He was always better as man who draws confidence from his size while letting his opponents and the crowd aware of the fact he knows it. Ryback should continue to get this push, while Kaliston can go back to tagging with Sin Cara, possibly taking the belts off a heel team comprised of two League of Nation members.

3rd Annual Andre the Giant Battle Royal
Participants: Heath Slater, Curtis Axel, Adam Rose, Bo Dallas, Big Show, Kane, Tyler Breeze, Mark Henry, Jack Swagger, Fandango, Damien Sandow, Darren Young, Konnor, Viktor, Goldust, R-Truth

Winner: Mystery Person

Thoughts: I really can’t say here. Without knowing the other participants I feel like that could mean one of the unannounced entries will be the winner.

Battle of the Factions
The New Day vs. The League of Nations

Winner: League of Nations

Who pins Who: Rusev pins Xavier Woods

Thoughts:  Since the titles are not on the line here, the League of Nations should go over in this match, soldifiying them as a top faction on the biggest stage possible. With numbers on their side and the fact they have lost to the New Day twice, they need a win if they are to be seen as a threat to the titles.

AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho

Winner: AJ Styles

Thoughts: If Jericho defeats Styles after losing to Fandango 3 years ago, something is terribly wrong. Both men have worked a great program and brought a level of importance to this beyond just having two great wrestlers square off. One would imagine that this will be the end of the feud, but wither way, if the two are given ample time to tell a story in the ring, this match could be the best match on the card not involving a gimmick.

Intercontinental Ladder Match
Sami Zayn vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder vs. Sin Cara vs. The Miz vs. Stardust vs. Kevin Owens (c)

Winner: Kevin Owens

Thoughts can be found here.

Divas Championship
Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte (c)

Who gets pinned: Charlotte

Winner: Sasha

Thoughts: This is the match that is going to change the Divas deivision into the Women’s division. The Divas revolution as three of the most skilled female superstars on the roster get a chance to shine at Mania. Becky has performed very well and has shown glimpses of greatness, but this is Sasha’s victory. Charlotte has had a long run with the title and has elevated it with her great work a heel and it does not detract from her position right now if she drops the title. Look for Sasha to get her Wrestlemania Moment and then make some noise on RAW.

No Holds Barred Match
Brock Lesnar vs. Dean Ambrose

Winner: Dean Ambrose
Thoughts: This match has the potential to place itself on the short list for best Wrestlemania match. Ambrose’s work has made Lesnar look even stronger, if that’s possible. At the same time, he has developed his own character into an organic babyface that everybody cheers. His perseverance and grittiness come off as genuine. The added bonus of a no disqualification match gives the underdog a believable fighting chance in this match. It’s hard to see Lesnar lose in this spot on this stage, but if Ambrose goes over here the pop might be comparable to Bryan’s pop at Wrestlemania 30.

World Heavyweight championship
Roman Reigns vs. Triple H

Winner: Roman Reigns
Thoughts: I believe they should, but WWE won’t call an audible here. Reigns has been wronged on many occasions, proven that he can take anything on, even the COO and current champion. The crowd reaction is a real concern here, so it’s possible this match does not end the night. After a two year battle for this spot, it would be a change of script for the third Mania in a row and there’s something to be said to sticking by your decision. Reigns could very well win to resounding boos, only to have Seth Rollins simply stand up the ramp, returning to cheers as the show ends. No matter how they spin it, Roman will dethrone the King of Kings.

Hell in a Cell
If Shane wins he takes over Raw
Shane McMahon vs. The Undertaker

Winner: Shane McMahon
Who will interfere: No one
Thoughts: This is my favorite match on the card because I just can’t call who is going to win here. Shane has not wrestled in years, on paper this seems like a total mismatch that will just be a squash match. McMahon has always shown athleticism in the ring and his interactions with Taker have shown him to be in great shape and not willing to back down. The stipulations have added weight to this match and is one of the times that the WWE allows even the most smarted fans to simply enjoy the match and suspend disbelief and the ever analytic eye, even if just for 25 minutes.
