OTPP: Drouin Suspended, NHL Emails, John Scott and More

Last Word on Sports is proud to present their hockey podcast, On the Powerplay with Ben and Dave. Join Ben Kerr and Dave Gove each week as they take a look around the Hockey World focusing on the big issues of the NHL and elsewhere.

On this week’s edition:

After being sent down to the AHL by the Tampa Bay Lightning, and demanding a trade, Jonathan Drouin has walked out on the Syracuse Crunch and returned to his home just outside Montreal.  Ben and Dave go over all that has gone down, what it means for Drouin and the Lightning and who is at fault.

The boys also look at the recent United States District Court ruling unsealing a number of NHL emails, and making them public.  How do these emails effect the NHL, the public perception of the league, Gary Bettman, Colin Campbell, the concussion law suit and more.  Ben also explains the legal process by which this was allowed to happen.

We finally have resolution to the John Scott All-Star Game issue, as the big man will captain the Pacific Division team in Nashville.  What do Ben and Dave think of this resolution.  What jersey should John Scott wear? Who will represent the Arizona Coyotes?

Speaking of John Scott’s new team, the Montreal Canadiens are in free fall and Marc Bergevin held a press conference re-affirming his faith in the coaching staff and players.  What is happening in Montreal? How do they fix the issues this season and get back into a playoff spot? or are the problems too big and its time to tank for a better chance at Auston Matthews?

Also in free fall, though maybe less publically, are the Nashville Predators.  New addition Ryan Johanssen looks great, but the team is not winning games.  What are the problems in music city, and how can they fix them?

At the other end of the spectrum, the boys also look at the pacific division where the San Jose Sharks are red hot, and take a look at the secrets to their success.
