The LWOS Baseball Department is pleased to bring you their live game blog, in conjunction with Cover It Live. The Blog will be going live tonight at 7:30 pm as the American League Champion Kansas City Royals take on the National League Champion New York Mets in the World Series Game 2.
Game 1 was a thriller that included a little bit of everything, including a lead-off inside the park home run, a game tying home run in the bottom of the 9th, extra innings, a tv power outage/delay, Curtis Granderson turning back the clock, a Bartolo Colon appearance, great defensive plays, huge defensive miscues, strange managerial decisions, and more. In the end an Eric Hosmer sacrifice fly plated Alcides Escobar with the game winning run and the Royals take a 1-0 series lead into tonight.
You can read our game 1 live blog here.
Game two features another fantastic pitching matchup, as the Mets will send Jacob deGrom to the hill, while the Royals will counter with Johnny Cueto. DeGrom has been brilliant for New York in this postseason, going 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA so far. Meanwhile Cueto has been up and down. His game 5 win in the ALDS over Houston was brilliant, but his game 3 performance in the ALCS against Toronto left a lot to be desired. The Royals are looking for a signature start from their big 2015 trade deadline acquisition. With the heavy bullpen use we saw during last night’s 14 inning affair, both teams will be asking their starters to go deep in this one.
Also tonight, the LWOS baseball panel will be playing the Joe Buck drinking game. Be sure to tune into our live blog just to join in the fun.
We’ll be here at 7:45 EDT to help get the action started.
