International Rugby Comes to Chicago – USA Eagles v.New Zealand All Blacks

On Saturday in Chicago rugby fans will be able to see the historic New Zealand All Blacks team on American soil for the first time since 1980. Facing the two-time and reigning International Rugby Board (IRB) Rugby World Cup champions will be the United States (USA) Eagles who have qualified for the IRB Rugby World Cup in England 2015.

International Rugby Comes to Chicago

Tickets for the event at Soldier Field on Chicago’s beautiful and scenic lakefront are completely sold out. The match will be broadcast on NBC and kickoff is at 3:00 pm CT.

The All Blacks are the most successful international rugby team of all time. With their current top world ranking, the All Blacks have a winning test record of more than 75%. The All Blacks play European opponents every year in the Steinlager Series and the Investec Rugby Championship, which also includes Argentina, Australia and South Africa.

The USA Eagles are the men’s national rugby union team. The Eagles’ roster consists of 14 overseas players which is the most in history. USA Rugby has 10 National teams. Athletes selected to national teams represent the USA in international rugby competitions around the world.

All reports are that the All Blacks and the Eagles are planning to field teams that indicate that Saturday will be no “friendly.” It will be a great opportunity for American rugby enthusiasts to watch the best rugby teams in the world establish the world pecking order and tune up for the IRB Rugby World Cup England.
