Fantasy Defensive Decisions Week 8

It’s week 8 and the plug and play fantasy defensive units for this week are as good as the last. I want to avoid featuring the same teams week after week in this piece but there are a couple of last week’s teams that, if you read this and picked up to play, should remain in your lineup this week.

Fantasy Defensive Decisions Week 8

The Browns had only a decent fantasy total for last week despite a matchup that said they would score huge points. This week they take on Oakland and should do at least a smidge better.

The Cowboys didn’t have the fantasy week I was hoping for against Eli and the G-men. Hold on to these guys one more week, at least because Colt McCoy is starting for the Redskins. I have to say, I’m as excited about this as any matchup across the board for the week.

Let’s move on to the pick ups you can make this week to snatch a win with some unexpected help. Once again these are in order of how I would take them and play them if they were all available to me.

  1. Miami Dolphins- I can almost always comfortably say about anybody “Start these guys against the Jaguars” and as of now I’m going to say that, but I also want to give credit to a Dolphins defense that shut down a very potent offense in the Bears last week.
  2. Minnesota Vikings- These guys play really well sometimes and just plain awful at others. It seems almost as if you should only play them based on their matchup….. Well, that’s what this is all about. This week they take on Tampa Bay who is struggling to get it done on offense.
  3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – I was high on this unit coming into this year. With the dynamite playmakers on the defensive side of the ball and a tough defensive coach in Lovie Smith coming to town, I jumped on these guys in a few leagues. It’s been disappointing. This week Teddy Bridgewater and his rookie ailments are rolling into town though. I think Lovie will rally the troops at home.

I will make a quick note that Houston is also a great play but they have been doing well as a whole this year and I don’t see them available in any of my leagues. This isn’t a place to come and read about defenses that you CAN’T go get, but if they are there, swoop em’ up!
