Top European Rugby Clubs — August 28th, 2014

A look at the top European Rugby Clubs, early in 2014-15 Season

1) Toulon—The reigning European Champions are off to a hot start in the Top 14 outscoring their opponents 89-34. That’s easily the best in France. At this point fans may be asking Jonny who?

2) Northampton—The Saints have only built on their strengths in the offseason and enter the Aviva Premiership as one of the favorites.

3) Leinster—Brian O’Driscoll is gone, and that will hurt but it’s not like Leinster don’t have the talent. They will once again be a threat in Europe and the team to beat in the Pro12.

4) Saracens—Like the other top teams on the list Saracens have added talent. Jim Hamilton will be a huge addition for the team.

5) Toulouse—Toby Flood is looking like the addition of the year. Toulouse are only kept out of first place in France by the firepower of Toulon.

6) Clermont—Clermont have also won both of their matches to start the Top 14 season. They haven’t been as convincing as Toulon and Toulouse, but it’s job done.

7) Leicester—They had a bit of a down season last year but should threaten once again.

8) Glasgow—The surprise team of last season, but maybe it was meant to be. They will be bolstered by a few players regaining fitness and a few new faces.

9) Munster—Ireland’s quiet team Munster are always near the top.

10) Bordeaux—Who would have thought Bordeaux would have gotten off to as bright of a start as they have, but the results don’t lie.
