BREAKING: Tony Stewart runs over Competitor in Sprint Car Race

EDITOR UPDATE (0727): Kevin Ward Jr has been pronounced dead by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Department. No criminal charges have been issued at time of update. (Source: NBC)

Tony Stewart has been rumored to have ran over a driver, and not just a car, but an actual person at a race couse in New York State.

Stewart was racing in a Sprint Car Race at Canandaigua Motorsports Park – a DIRTcar Racing Course in Canadaigua, NY where he allegedly ran over a competitor under a caution flag.

The competitor, Kevin Ward Jr, got out of his car to show his displeasure at Stewart under the caution flag, and it has been alledged that Tony Stewart hit the gas and sent Ward flying.

It would appear that Ward’s injuries are extremely serious, and there are even some unconfirmed reports that the accident was fatal.

The race was stopped as numerous medical personnel and police and arrived at the Canandaigua track. Police are reportedly investigating at the scene.
