Joe Launchbury- The Friendly Giant/deadly assassin

Over the past few years at London Wasps, we have seen a number of class players walk in and out of the front door. One of these amazing players that have walked into the London Wasps is Joe Launchbury. Having a player like Launchbury in the team has been very beneficial to the coaching staff, fans and the other members of the team.

For all of the fans that London Wasps have in its community, Joe Launchbury has proven his worth by being one of the most influential players both on and off the pitch. He stands out from the rest due to his outstanding ability to create turnovers and to assist in the rucks. This is not to mention the huge height difference he has over the other players in line outs. Launchbury towers over the rest.

At the enormous height of 6’6″ Joe Launchbury has been very useful in lineouts. He has used his significant height advantage to take the ball from the lineouts and pass it to teammates. It is a big advantage for the Wasps gaining possession, and has even led to them going on to score the all important try or penalty at key times. Even if Launchbury does not go for the ball in the lineout he certainly goes for the opportunity to go for some ground. Even with gaining a small amount of space for the rest of the team, Launchbury has made and will continue to make split second decisions that can change the pace of the game.

Joe Launchbury’s amazing ability has been shown at club level and even in international level. Launchbury has proven to be a vital part of Wasps future and after supporting the mighty Wasps over the last ten years I have noticed a very positive change in the squad ever since Launchbury joined in 2010. Launchbury is definitely going to be a part of the promising future that the squad will have in the years to come.
