Follow The Tweeters: Raw and Smackdown Reactions (Feb 17-21)

This week’s edition of Follow The Tweeters is in! Did you become a member of the Yes Movement? Did you get motion sickness while trying to count the number of rotations Cesaro got on his big swing? Did you sway your arms to and fro, as part of the Emmalution? Here are your tweets, as you tweeted them!

Follow The Tweeters: Raw and Smackdown Reactions (Feb 17-21)

We start off with Monday Night Raw!

Aaron Gibson ‏@AaronGibson98
Christian turning into a heel?#RAW

This is the best thing that could have happened to Christian. Fans love him, there’s no denying that but as a face, Christian is rather bland. When he’s a heel, his game is at a whole new level. His promos are better, his overall presence is much more intimidating and he doesn’t clap when he’s setting up for the Killswitch, although that last one may be a personal gripe.

Daniel List ‏@DanList13
It should be illegal to use Christian as a face. This is the most relevant he’s been in three years #Raw

Absolutely. Even when he’s a heel, fans still love him and some will continue to cheer him but if the WWE wants him to be a bigger force when stepping into the Elimination Chamber, he’ll do a better job as a heel than a face going through the motions.

iteach ‏@DebAnn1978
Oh god dean Ambrose is a whack job!!!! #RAW @WWEUniverse @WWE

Isn’t it lovely? Back when he was Jon Moxley, he cut some of the most intense and insane promos you would ever see. They were dark, they were twisted and more often than not, they were sadistic with a hint of sarcasm in his tone. Since his debut in the WWE, we’ve seen Ambrose near that level of crazy but not quite. Now with this story of “Anything you can do, I can do better” he has going with fellow-Shield member Roman Reigns, you are starting to see him lose his grip and in turn, lose his mind as well.

Turnbuckle Radio ‏@TurnbuckleRadio
Emma’s really good in the ring but goddamn that dance gimmick is awful #RAW

I hoped this would end once she jumped to the WWE but unfortunately it has stayed. It’s weird, Big E’s “FIVE!” shtick he had going for him in NXT has disappeared and that was something that got him over so well in the NXT.

#TeamLesnar. ‏@SupportingBrock
Turning Henry face was a complete fail. The man was born to be a heel. #RAW

Mark Henry is another Christian case. He is so much more intimidating and beastly as a heel but people will still cheer him and adore him. The last time I saw Henry get legit heat was when he was defending his ECW Championship on a weekly basis against Matt Hardy, who at the time was probably the biggest face in the company, or one of. I love Henry and his “That’s what I do!” is great but when he is a face, his whole aura and slogan come off as cartoonish. When he’s a heel and he’s giving the World’s Strongest Slam to smaller opponents and decimating opposition, yelling his slogan as the sweat leaps off his hair and beard just comes off as something out of this world.

The unfortunate thing is, how many of these guys on the roster can you say, “He’d be so much better as a heel.” You can’t have 80% of your roster playing the heel role, as much as we all want that.

Across The Pond ‏@ATPWrestling
Goldust is absolute gold though #Raw

Like fine wine, Goldust seems to get better with age. I have watched him during the Attitude era and both before and after those years and he was always someone that you couldn’t take your eyes off of — for better or for worse — but in this day and age, when competition is becoming younger, quicker and generally better, seeing Goldust among the troops is a treat.

When you see Batista return and he’s huffing and puffing after ten minutes or The New Age Outlaws or even Kane, who have all drastically changed in terms of physical appearance, seeing Goldust, in the shape and form that he is, just boggles your mind. He is one of the only remaining wrestlers on the roster that deserves the “You still got it!” chant. Not only does he still have it, he seems to improve with every match he participates in.

RiC David ‏@ViolentRiC
E, as I like to call him, is unbelievably dry in his current character-if there were any character to call it that. He needs *something*#RAW

As I mentioned prior to this tweet, Big E needs to bring back his “FIVE!” gimmick. Stick him in the ring with 3MB, all three of them, and have him dismantle the group. Obliterate them. Tear them from ring post to ring post. Then when it’s time to end it, finish the match and give the crowd the illusion that it’s over. Then Big E will re-enter the ring, stick his hand up and yell “FIVE! FIVE! FIVE!”. He’ll pick up Drew MacIntyre, deliver the Big Ending and pin him. Big E will make his own count but instead of counting to three, he’ll count to five.

Big E will leave the ring and it’s over right? WRONG! Jinder Mahal is getting back to his feet, so in comes Big E. Another Big Ending, this time to Mahal and Big E makes another five count cover! Big E leaves and Heath Slater is making his way back to his feet. The crowd is chanting “ONE MORE TIME! ONE MORE TIME!” Big E enters the ring, turns Slater around and BOOM! Big Ending! One, two, three, four, five!

“Three ain’t enough man, I need five!” And that’s how you make Big E a fan favorite and completely over.

You’re welcome.

In other news, WHAT IS WWE DOING WITH DREW MCINTYRE. That man has so much potential. WWE treats him terribly. #RAW #PushDrew

I have my own list of wrestlers the WWE has screwed the pooch on. Drew and Jinder fall into this category, as does Zack Ryder, Wade Barrett and Brodus Clay. All guys who, given the proper direction and/or character, would be in a better place than they are now.

It really is a shame how he went from Intercontinental Champion and the second-coming of Hunter Hearst Helmsley to playing air guitar. If they can give him back his fancy-looking jacket, tie his hair back in a ponytail and give him his old music back, we could have a mid-card division worthy of tuning into each week. The Intercontinental Championship has it’s challenger in Jack Swagger, imagine Dean Ambrose defending his United States Championship against Drew McIntyre. More like DRAW McIntyre, at that point.

Sarah Jamieson ‏@SarahJatTheQ
The Wyatts could possibly be the worst storyline/characters in history. #Raw

I think Sarah started watching wrestling this Monday night.

Wrestle Reaction ‏@Wrestle_React
When is the last time we heard This Is Awesome during a John Cena match?! #Raw

Last time I can think was on an episode of Monday Night Raw, last year, when he faced CM Punk to determine who would be the number one contender for the WWE Championship and headline Wrestlemania to challenge The Rock. I believe that match had that chant throughout and it deserved it. That match was a match of the year candidate.

As was this match against Cesaro. I’ve seen the Big Swing a dozen times now, as has everyone, but to see Cena lift himself up and counter it into a DDT was sheer brilliance. Even through defeat, Cesaro won and he has never looked better in the ring — and that includes his win against the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Randy Orton.

Raven ‏@RavenCodeBlack
Is it really that dangerous for Bray Wyatt to carry a real lantern instead of a battery powered one? #wwe #raw

What makes even less sense is in the video that plays right before they come out, Bray Wyatt actually has a real lantern, which he lights and then blows out. I don’t understand it myself.

❤мαяк¢нσ тнє gℓєєк❤ ‏@MarkchoTheGreat
Bray Wyatt Kisses More Wrestlers than Sunny & AJ Lee Combined #RAW

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is this week’s “Zing! Tweet of the week!”

Aaron ‏@aj0314
Jimmy Uso clowning on Road Dogg on commentary. So much smack talk. #WWE #RAW

This had to be one of my favorite moments of the night. To see Jey Uso actually one-upping the microphone-savvy Road Dogg, meanwhile grinning and sporting a “U MAD?” face, it just made my night.

That concludes Monday night’s tweets. Here’s what you all had to say about this week’s episode of Smackdown!

DevotedToCena&Punk ‏@JohnCena757
The Yes-Movement is taking over EVERYTHING! #Smackdown

Just like it has been for a while. It’s nice to see that the Yes Movement has not lost any steam over time and just seems to continue to build. It’s truly a shame that the WWE has not capitalized in this and made Bryan a legit WWE World Heavyweight Champion. They have made their profit in merchandise sales though, so I guess that’s their silver lining.

TheReal_JaySmoove ‏@CeoJaySmoove
#smackdown #HOGAN Vs #UNDERTAKER #WRESTLEMANIA30

If this actually happened, I would not buy Wrestlemania this year and I think many others would skip the biggest event of the year, for the WWE.

Hulk Hogan is the host of Wrestlemania and was not cleared for in-ring competition the last time he checked, so I wouldn’t count on him doing anything more than hitting the boot on some low-ranked roster guy and dropping the leg.

Jadiss Michaelson ‏@JadeIsAmazin
I wonder if the feud between DB and @WWEBrayWyatt is over, they haven’t clashed in a while #Smackdown

Considering that Bray Wyatt and his clan have focused their attention on The Shield and, to a lesser extent, John Cena, I would say that the feud between he and Daniel Bryan is very much over.

OwensChristopher ‏@OwensChristoph1
#Smackdown I think that Kane has issues with Daniel Bryan

I think the Kane character has many issues.

It’s funny how jbl and Michael cole always argue #smackdown

This has dated back to many years ago. These two have always bickered back and forth and it’s something that I have come to enjoy over time. I love when announcers call a match and call out moves and build excitement, a la Jim Ross, but sometimes you need a bit of comedy tossed in there and the JBL/Michael Cole tandem offers that. All we are missing is a “SHUT UP!” from JBL some time soon. Oh, and Jerry Lawler leaving the table as well.

Bryan ‏@BryanIsWWE
Then Big E showed up and that ended with a huge brawl between Big E and Jack Swagger. #WWEApp #SmackDown

Here we have another problem with the product. The focus on promoting the WWE App. 48 hours before Big E defends his Championship against Jack Swagger, these two men brawl backstage and all hell ensues, and you can’t even be bothered to show that on the television program? You have to download a dinky little application on your cell phone — which by the way it’s terrible, crashes constantly and the videos ALWAYS buffer out of control — just to watch this? Are you KIDDING me? Then the WWE wonders why their mid-card division, specifically their two mid-card Championships, lack any definition.

Five hours of weekly television divided by two main shows, and you can’t bother to showcase a brawl between two men that will clash for the Intercontinental Championship, just two days later. That’s, for a lack of a better term, absolutely disgusting and shameful.

Ally ‏@Alexa07_
So when do we get to hear CM Punk chants? We want Punk!!!!!#Smackdown

As much as I love CM Punk, and I really do, the steam has died down. Of course, when you enter into smark cities, there will be that vibe, the general public has shifted their focus on names like Cesaro, Daniel Bryan, The Wyatts, The Shield and the Elimination Chamber match.

Two things I will look for; The Batista/Del Rio match this Sunday and how the fans will react to Batista, and March 3rd… when the WWE heads into Chicago for Monday Night Raw. If Punk hasn’t returned by that date, I’d be afraid to show my face as a member of management.

Stephanie Recker ‏@SNR_1995
Kane you’re a dick! #WWE #Smackdown

So simple, yet so effective. I must admit, it took me a few moments to collect myself as I laughed at this tweet. I pictured a fan, letting out a big sigh and a shrug of the shoulders and then belting out this statement.

RyanWWE ‏@YoungCaps95
I hate how Cole says Double U Double U E #SmackDown

When he first started out as an announcer on Smackdown, he had a hard time even pronouncing it in this fashion. Most of the time in those days, he referred to the company as “Double-view, Double-view, E”. It was brutal to hear and he did say it multiple times throughout the broadcast.

R2j Live 2014 ‏@DriveSlowR2j
Imagine if Raven’s Flock joined forces with Bray Wyatt? That would be wild. #Smackdown

That would be sick. Two mentally-disturbed stables teaming up as one and tearing the WWE down from it’s foundation. That would be some entertaining television to watch.

superawesome ‏@leeisaiah83
who is undertaker going to face #Smackdown

Father Time, for really messing him up!

Shannon Scott ‏@BJJ_Team88_Girl
Really had my hopes up @Goldust would hit that Shattered Dreams… #Smackdown

Something has kept me wondering over the years… how is it that a blatant low-blow, right in front of the referee who is actively watching it all unfold, is not only a legal move but it’s a Signature move, to boot? You would think such a direct cheap shot would be grounds for disqualification but apparently not.

Vegeta-Sama ‏@VegetaStache
Why are Bray’s lips always bleeding? #SmackDown

When Bray Wyatt kisses you, he REALLY kisses you.

Ingrid ‏@bc_ingridsaidso
Seriously @WWE? You finally bring in a woman that can wrestle and this is what you make her do… #SmackDown #EmbarrasingWomensDivision

Ingrid, you read my mind. Having watched NXT weekly, I have been treated with ACTUAL wrestling matches between two women. The illusion of “Divas” vanished, there was no selling these women as barbie dolls, it was just two women wrestling their hearts out and receiving the necessary amount of time to perform a set of moves and build up emotion and energy, thus telling a story.

In the WWE, women get two, maybe three minutes of ring time and honestly, how can you tell a story in that short amount of time? You can’t. That’s why when women make the jump to the WWE, I cringe. Summer Rae put on several high-quality matches in NXT against the likes of Paige, Emma and various others, yet she’s been reduced to a back-up dancer that sometimes wrestles, but really she just dances when she gets tagged into a match. Emma? Well, I’m not crazy about her silly arm-thingy (not calling it a dance because IT ISN’T DANCING) but she performed well in NXT. It only makes sense to have her… not wrestling, right?

I have no hope for the Divas division. AJ Lee, AS THE DIVAS CHAMPION, drops more matches than 3MB combined, and the division itself has been used to promote their Total Divas show. It’s in a sad state right now and I’m not sure what can bring it back to form. Paige, the anti-diva? I’d love to get my hopes up of her jumping to the big league and bringing that anti-diva role with her, teaming up with AJ and taking down all the barbie dolls, but I’ve seen this same old song and dance before and I know how it ends. No thank you.

Ulices ‏@11ulc
Titus could be a big star in the future. #SmackDown

I compared the situation with Titus and Darren Young to what went down with Shad and JTG, formerly known as Cryme Tyme, but it’s starting to become two different entities. Yes, you had the same build-up and story, and you had the bigger man become the heel and showcase that intimidation, but Titus can actually wrestle a match and is entertaining on the microphone as well. Darren too, for that matter. Both these men have that chance to become stars in this industry.

Jake Gronie ‏@JakeGronie
At least Ziggler didn’t job, don’t see how that match helped anyone. #Smackdown

Well, it’s really simple. By distracting Titus and causing him to lose the match against Dolph Ziggler, Darren Young doused the flames with even more fuel, causing tensions to rise between he and his former tag team partner. It’s all about creating that story between these two as they head into their match at Elimination Chamber.

The only one it did not help was Dolph Ziggler, who was basically used as a prop for this match. Sort of like a “Ha ha! Ziggler beat you!” Two situations that compare; When Chris Jericho filmed a Tout at the broadcast booth, distracting Dolph Ziggler and causing him to lose a match against Alex Riley, and Paul Heyman distracting Chris Jericho by having CM Punk’s theme played, causing Jericho to drop the match he was in against Curtis Axel. So Dolph Ziggler has been reduced to Alex Riley and Curtis Axel territory. Yeesh.
