Monte Morris sets new YCCL Record

Monte Morris took to the YMCA Capital City League on Friday and showed them why he leads the NCAA in assist to turnover ratio. Morris dished 24 assists to only one turnover in ADIO’s dominating win. Read about each game below, and visit the YCCL twitter (@ycapcity) for the box scores. Also, you can follow me on twitter (@cfchangs9) for in game updates.

Game 1: ADIO Chiropractic (4-2) 143, Capital Orthopedics (3-3) 119

While Monte Morris (ADIO-Iowa State So.) dished his single game YCCL Record 24 assists, Matt Thomas (ADIO-Iowa State So.) scored a league high – for the night – 46 points including 8 three pointers and 10 rebounds.

Thomas looked like the player he was towards the end of the season last year. A player gaining confidence to put up shots is exactly what he will turn into next season.

Abdel Nader (CO-Iowa State Jr.) tried his best to prevent another Capital Ortho loss as he went for 40 points and had some shot stuffing blocks. It wasn’t enough, however, as ADIO went for their 4th straight win.

Game 2: Walnut Creek YMCA (5-1) 113, Renaissance Granite and Quartz (3-3) 101

After a 3-0 start to the season, Renaissance Granite has gone for their third straight loss. Georges Niang (RGQ-Iowa State Jr.) and Kourtlin Jackson (RGQ-Iowa State So.) had impressive games in the stat book, but their shots weren’t falling all night.

Jameel McKay (YMCA-Iowa State Jr.) grabbed another 30 point game, but tugged along 18 rebounds to see, YMCA’s fifth straight win.

Game 3: Coca Cola Atlantic Bottling (2-4) 152, Phoenix Renewable Resources (2-4) 143

Sherron Dorsey Walker (CCAB-Iowa State So.) and Dustin Hogue (CCAB-Iowa State Jr.) look to finally be on the same page as last place Coca Cola cruised in a 150 point victory.

SDW lead the way with 45 points and 11 rebounds while Hogue had 34 points and 20 boards.

When those two are on their games, they can take a win from any team, and when the playoffs roll along in two weeks, there won’t be an easy game for whoever plays Coca Cola.
