This Friday at the ATP 250 event in Geneva will feature the semifinals, with recent Rome finalist, former three-time Geneva champion and two-time Roland Garros finalist Casper Ruud leading a very strong field (at least considering the tournament category and placement on the calendar). It should be a very interesting day of tennis in Switzerland.
ATP Geneva Semifinal Predictions
Learner Tien vs Alexander Bublik
Head-to-head: Tien 1-0 Bublik
Tien is having arguably the best clay court run of his young career and is now facing an opponent he has already beaten in Rome less than two weeks ago. It was an extremely close affair then and it could well be again here; Bublik’s Top 10 spot will be under serious threat in the coming months and a title or even final here would go a long way towards helping him so he will certainly be giving it his all here. That said, Tien’s game is certainly more stable and consistent and he might well get the better of Bublik again, even if it should be a very close match either way.
Prediction: Tien in 3
Casper Ruud vs Mariano Navone
Head-to-head: Ruud 1-0 Navone
Navone is a very tough nut to crack for anyone on clay and even won a title earlier this year in Bucharest, but Ruud has long been one of the best players in the world on this surface and he has been playing very well lately, only really losing to Casper Ruud in the Rome final. What’s more, Ruud has already won Geneva three times in his career so far, always following it up with strong runs at Roland Garros. He clearly loves this tournament and at this point is the clear favorite to take the trophy home. Navone might be a solid player on clay, but Ruud should have the edge here under normal circumstances.
Prediction: Ruud in 2
