WTA Den Bosch Quarterfinal Predictions Including Barbora Krejcikova vs Elena-Gabriela Ruse

3 of the 4 quarterfinal matches are set at the WTA Libema Open, and the field is set to crown a new champion as the defending champion, Elise Mertens, is out. Barbora Krejcikova is now the favourite to win the title, but the other players will also fancy their chances. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for all four matches, but who will advance?

WTA Den Bosch Quarterfinal Predictions

Daria Snigur vs Robin Montgomery

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Daria Snigur got lucky in the second round at WTA Den Bosch as Panna Udvardy was up 4-2 in the third set when the rain came, and play got suspended. Upon resumption, Snigur played brilliantly and won four games in a row to seal the win. She is in her first tour-level quarterfinals on grass and will play Robin Montgomery, who is on a great run and was the slightly better player against Greet Minnen. Snigur’s lack of focus in the third set bothers me, so I’ll go with the American.

Prediction: Montgomery in 3

Magda Linette vs Zeynep Sonmez

Head-to-Head: Linette 0-1 Sonmez

Magda Linette won easily at WTA Den Bosch against Mia Pohankova in the second round and is into her second tour-level quarterfinal of the season. Linette is defending semifinal points next week, so these couple of wins have given her some leeway, and she could still add more here. However, Zeynep Sonmez would be her toughest opponent this week as she defeated Anastasia Potapova in the second round. Potapova retired in the second set due to illness, but Sonmez was playing great before that. I am expecting a tight match where Linette will edge it out.

Prediction: Linette in 3

Barbora Krejcikova vs Elena-Gabriela Ruse

Head-to-Head: Krejcikova 2-1 Ruse

Barbora Krejcikova’s quality was on full display against Hanne Vandewinkel in the first round. She played an amazing first set, losing just one game and then got the crucial break late in the second set to win the match. If she can bring more of that level she played in the first set, I can see her lifting the trophy. Elena-Gabriela Ruse took revenge on Elise Mertens for last year’s loss in the final, but I think her run ends here this time.

Prediction: Krejcikova in 3
