A preview of the end of season Decision Day matchup between Minnesota United FC and Columbus Crew SC that takes place on Sunday.
Columbus Crew SC-Minnesota United

Minnesota United FC improved on their recent performances but still fell to the LA Galaxy 3-1. There was more energy from the squad but there were still mental lapses by the players. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was left wide open on the opening goal and Angelo Rodriguez was caught offsides multiple times.

Preview: Columbus Crew SC-Minnesota United

When: Sunday, October 28th, 3:30 pm CT

Where: MAPFRE Stadium — Columbus

Watch: Streamed on ESPN and FOX Sports North

Francisco Calvo and Eric Miller should continue to start at left and right back. Brett Kallman and Micheal Boxall will probably start at center back for the Loons. The argument can be made for giving the youngster Wyatt Omsberg some minutes at center-back.

As for the midfield, Fernando Bob will most likely start in the defensive midfield and hopefully Rasmus Schuller. Bob could handle most of the defensive responsibilities, as Schuller could help with the defensive responsibility but have the freedom to roam forward and help out in the attack.

As for the forwards, Miguel Ibarra will most likely start on the right wing, Darwin Quintero will play under Angelo Rodriguez up top. Romario Ibarra or Abu Danladi should start on the left wing. If Abu Danladi does not get the start he should see some time off the bench.

Things to Watch for

Can the Loons End the Season on a High Note?

The Minnesota United front office and coaching staff has been under a lot of scrutiny after a string of poor performances. Also, CEO Chris Wright said that “Both, in my mind, get a passing grade” after little to no improvement over last season. A loss, especially a bad one like the one in Philadelphia could intensify the calls by the fan base to remove the coaching staff and front office.

For Who Will This Be the Last Game for the Loons?

For multiple players, this will be their last game in the Minnesota Black and Blue. Although there has not been much word on who is staying and who is leaving, with little or no improvement from last season, multiple players figure to be on the move.
