Ranking Lionel Messi Top 5 Goals last European season

Of course, the Argentinean Lionel Messi is among the top three in fans list every weekend.

The Barcelona star closed the last season as the best goalscorer in Europe with 45 goals and he netted against teams he never hurt before in his career.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, as usual, left some outstanding goals last season that easily will be in his all-time best, but five of them stood out the rest.

Barcelona will begin their run this season on August 18 facing off Alaves. It will mark Messi’s 16th season as a professional player.

Here’s a look at the five best Messi goals in the 2017/18 season:

5. Vs Real Madrid

”La Pulga” put Barcelona 2-1 ahead in El Clasico this year after dribbling Casemiro and shooting the ball on the only spot available to beat goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

The game ended in a 2-2 draw and Barcelona took one point on their way to La Liga title.

4. Between the legs vs Chelsea

He did it twice.

Messi scored two goals between the leg of Chelsea’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in the second leg of 2017/18 UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

The Argentinian not only sent his team to the quarter-finals, but he also broke a nine scoreless match against Chelsea in the first leg.

Indeed, it was Messi 100th goal in Europe’s top club competition.

3. First time against Buffon

Juventus was one of those few teams Messi couldn’t have damaged before.

However, as it was with Chelsea, the Italian club suffered the lethal attacking from the Argentinean last season.

Messi beat Gianluigi Buffon for the first time in his career in last year’s UEFA Champions League Group Stage.

2. Vs Girona

Another Messi classy goal.

The Barcelona star dribbled Girona’s defense and put the ball inside the net.

Messi scored twice as the Catalan squad trashed out Girona 6-1 in La Liga 25th game day.

1. Freekick vs Real Sociedad

The Argentinean scored one of his priceless goals via freekick vs Real Sociedad in La Liga 19th match day.

He shot the ball above the wall and the paralyzing goalkeeper just saw how the ball crossed the goal line.

It was one of the seventh direct freekick goals the 31-year-old scored last season.

It was not in the European season, but Messi shined in the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers.

La Pulga delivered a Hat-trick in the last matchday against Ecuador to rescue Argentina and send his country to the 2018 Russia World Cup.

Especially, the third goal was out of mind as Messi brought hope to the South American nation.

Ultimately, the Argentinians World Cup run finished after a heartbreak 4-3 defeat to the eventual champions France.
