Holding The High Line: A full break down of the Stefan Aigner situation

Podcast (May 10, 2018) – Hello Rapids Fans! Today Rabbi and Red have a jam-packed show. We recap the Colorado Rapids loss to Sporting KC over the weekend, talking about who didn’t show up, what went wrong tactically, and why losing to Sporting isn’t the end of the world. The lads then take a deep dive into the New York Red Bulls, who they are, how they play, and what the Rapids can do to beat them on Saturday.

Holding The High Line: A full break down of the Stefan Aigner situation

In this week’s rendition of From Field 20, Matt gives full injury updates on all Rapids players of relevance. Good news! Everyone is progressing and making their way back to fitness. Nana Boateng’s even been cleared to do some light header drills, which is an excellent sign. Mark pokes fun at Matt having a slight slip up during a press conference that left Manager Anthony Hudson very confused. We finish off the segment with an exclusive interview with Sam Nicholson, the newest member of the Colorado Rapids, and his glorious Scottish accent.

After much discussion and people hitting us up on Twitter, we’ve decided to appease our listeners with a special segment #AskHTHL: Aignergate. The guys break down how the Rapids got into this mess. We recap what we know and what could be true based on what we know. The guys talk about the options going forward for Stefan Aigner and Hudson and who’s really to blame for this cantankerous curfuffle. We finish off by breaking down the finances of the situation and discussing what options the Rapids have once the summer transfer window opens.

We recorded this game during Huddersfield-Chelsea cause Matt’s obsessed with David Wagner. Apologies in advance.

Matt Pollard is the Managing Editor of Last Word on Soccer and engineer by day. A Colorado Convert, he started covering the Colorado Rapids as a credentialed member of the press in 2016, though he’s watched MLS since it started. When he’s not watching or writing about soccer, he’s being an outdoorsman (mostly skiing and hiking) in this beautiful state or trying a new beer. For some reason, he thought that starting a podcast with Mark was a good idea and he can’t figure out how to stop this madness. He also hosts Last Word SC Radio. Mark Goodman, aka the Rapids Rabbi, moved to Colorado in 2011. Shortly thereafter he went to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, saw Lee Nguyen dribble a ball with the silky smoothness of liquid chocolate cascading into a Bar Mitzvah fountain, and promptly fell head over heels in love with domestic soccer. When not watching MLS or coaching U8 soccer, he’s generally studying either Talmud or medieval biblical exegesis. Which explains why he watches so much MLS, probably. He writes about the Rapids for Around MLS and covers the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL for Last Word on Soccer. He also writes for American Soccer Analysis. Follow him on Twitter @rapidsrabbi.
