LA Galaxy vs San Jose Earthquake Cali Classico Preview

LA Galaxy:

The LA Galaxy are coming into this match of a 2-0 defeat to Columbus Crew. Now four games into the Sigi Schmid Era and the Galaxy have yet to find three points. Confidence is low and many questions are starting to surround the LA Galaxy camp. The question stands if Head Coach Sigi Schmid is the right answer to solve the Galaxy’s problems. Coming into this game Schmid will have to exceed from all his players. Giovanni dos Santos and Jermaine Jones look set to return back from injury, which means the Galaxy could have two crucial contributors for the game. Even with home field advantage the teams seems to be the underdog for the Classico. Three points are crucial to keep qualification hopes alive, but a fail to do so this game could see all those hopes go out the window.

San Jose Earthquake:

After a devastating 4-0 defeat to Real Salt Lake the San Jose Earthquakes have found themselves in a bit of a bad run. It’s been three games now that San Jose have gone with out a win. This has caused a bit of a frenzy in regards to qualification. Regardless of that fact, the Quakes will be confident that they can best over their opponents this game. While they may be confident one thing is for sure, they’re going to have to work on their defensive aspect of the game. Just alone in those last three games San Jose have conceded a total of nine goals.

Last Word:

With both teams in bad forms and defensive holes, this game looks to be yet another great Cali Classico. Goals are surely to come on either end, and as far as entertainment goes there will be much to anticipate on the field. The game is more important to the Galaxy, not only because of the rivalry, but for the fact that they now have gone nine straight MLS games with out a single victory.
