Ibini, 24, has played all of his professional career in the A-League. Despite the fact that he was signed from Brugge KV, he never made an appearance for the Belgian side. He has made 142 appearances during his time in the A-League.

Ibini has played with both the Central Coast Mariners and Sydney FC during his 142 professional appearances. During that time he has impressed enough to make appearances for the U-20 level, U-23 level, and senior national team for Australia.

Head coach of the Whitecaps, Carl Robinson, is understandably very happy to add Ibini to the squad. “Bernie is an exciting young player with great upside,” said Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson. “He’s big, powerful, and can play as a wide player or as a centre forward. And just as importantly, he’s someone who is hungry and keen to prove himself in Major League Soccer. We look forward to working with Bernie to help him reach his potential.”

The signing of Ibini shows the intent on behalf of the coaching staff and ownership to add some more potency to the attack. And with Yordy Reyna set to return during the summer months, Vancouver might very well turn out to be one of the most dynamic attacking fronts in all of Major League Soccer.

Ibini has experienced some solid success, relative to the A-League. During his 142 A-League appearances he scored 31 goals and added 11 assists during the process. Solid numbers for a tall and pacey winger like Ibini.
