Ryan Jack Signing Would Give Competition To Wil Trapp

The latest in the rumor mill for Columbus Crew SC is that they are on the verge of signing Aberdeen captain Ryan Jack. If the deal is completed soon, this could be another depth move for the Black and Gold.

Ryan Jack Signing Would Give Competition To Wil Trapp

Where Will Ryan Jack Fit?

Recently adding forward Kekuta Manneh gave Crew SC another depth move. Adding Jack could be beneficial. Columbus recently lost Brazilian midfielder Artur who suffered a broken wrist in their 2-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls two weeks ago. Could Jack be a replacement for Artur? But then again, Crew SC also have Mohammed Abu. So there will be a decision to be made among the coaching staff.

Competition For Will Trapp?

An interesting point came across Twitter about the move. Could Ryan Jack give competition to captain and homegrown player Wil Trapp? It’s possible but granted the Gahanna native just signed a new deal before the season started, head coach and sporting director Gregg Berhalter doesn’t plan on selling the captain anytime soon.

But it does bring up a great talking point.

The chances that Crew signing Jack as a replacement are slim to none, but there’s no telling what’s going on with the Charter Member club.

Is there an offer that Crewville doesn’t know about for Trapp? The front office does like to keep things a secret. They waited until a week before the season to unveil their primary kits for this year.

Stats On Jack

The 25-year old holding midfielder has two goals in 23 appearances for the Scottish Premiership side. He has seven goals in 142 total appearances in his career, 138 of them being starts, playing a total of 12,171 minutes.

Jack brings experience in the SPL and national team call-ups for Scotland.

Seeing the pairing of Jack and Trapp could be a great thing to be completely honest. Both players play a similar role in the midfield, both can defend really well. With this midfield, and the backline Columbus line up with, they could pose a threat to the opposition attack.

More details will be added to this article as they become available.
