LA Galaxy Legends Night To Be Held At Montreal Impact Game

CARSON, CA (April 6, 2017) – The LA Galaxy will be hosting their legends night in the match against the Montreal Impact. The recognition ceremony will be at half time with the match scheduled for 7:30 pm PST.

The Galaxy will be honoring former players Landon Donovan, Cobi Jones, Carlos Ruiz, Pete Vagenas and Clint Mathis. Additionally three LA Galaxy Season Ticket Members who have been holders since 1996 will recognized: Tom Schoeny, Joanie Schoeny and David Hoy.

Donovan is the all-time leaders in several offensive statistics for MLS including total goals and assists. He was a part of four of the Galaxy’s five MLS Cup titles (2005, 2011, 2012, 2014). Donovan retired last season after a brief return to the Galaxy.

Jones holds several LA Galaxy all time statistics including gales played, started, and minutes played. He was a Galaxy original from 1996 and has two MLS Cups. He is currently a tv color commentator for the club.

Carlos ‘El Pescadito’ Ruiz was with the Galaxy from 2002-04. He led the Galaxy to their first MLS Cup in 2002, scoring the game winning goal in the 113th minute to defeat the New England Revolution 1-0. Ruiz last played for FC Dallas in 2016.

Pete Vagenas became the General Manager of the LA Galaxy during the off-season. He spent 13 years in MLS. He was part of the Galaxy’s 2002 and 2005 MLS Cup teams and played 183 matches with the club.

Clint Mathis is a legend of the early MLS days. He was with the Galaxy from 1998-2000, scoring 15 goals. He rejoined the club in 2010, making nine appearances.

The Galaxy take on the Montreal Impact at 7:30 pm EST. After a tough loss last weekend at the Vancouver Whitecaps, they will look to rebound. Gyasi Zardes, Giovani dos Santos, and Ashley Cole all returned in that match. They are expected to be available for this week’s game.
