On this week’s NXT, it was announced that a series of hungry competitors will have an opportunity to make a statement on the black-and-gold brand. It was confirmed that the NXT Breakout Tournament will return in two weeks. The tournament in question started in 2019 but was absent in 2020, one of the reasons being the COVID-19 pandemic. In two weeks, the NXT Breakout Tournament 2021 will kick off. The details regarding specific competitors and the prize for the winner, as of this writing, are unknown.
The first-ever NXT Breakout Tournament took place in the summer of 2019. In addition to competing on a notable platform, the winner would receive a title match of their choice. The tournament in question saw a number of wrestlers that are regulars on the brand today. These include Dexter Lumis, Cameron Grimes, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, and current NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed. That year’s tournament was won by Jordan Myles, who is perhaps better known on the independent wrestling scene as ACH.
