Preview: Gatoh Move ChocoPro #76 – Reset vs. Best Bros (12/31/20)

ChocoPro 76

To say that the New Year’s Eve edition of ChocoPro is packed would be an understatement. This special episode will see the ChocoPro debut of a Dramatic Dream Team regular. Furthermore, viewers will see Gatoh Move Pro Wrestling‘s Asia Dream Tag Team Championship on the line for the first time in over nine months. Before the year of 2020 wraps up, here is what ChocoPro fans can expect. This promises to be an episode not to miss.

Tokiko Kirihara vs. Chie Koishikawa

For the first time since episode sixty-one of ChocoPro, Tokiko Kirihara returns to singles competition. The last three matches of “Otoki-san” have been in tag team competition, but now, she looks to stand tall on her own. 2020 has been a breakout year for Kirihara, who has consistently improved her game, becoming more hard-hitting and submission-savvy. Her opponent will be nothing short of formidable, however, as she takes on “Too Much Energy” Chie Koishikawa.

Much like Kirihara, Koishikawa has had an incredible year, including her move to professional wrestling on a full-time basis. Koishikawa’s exuberant personality has endeared her to the ChocoPro faithful. Additionally, her high-energy offense, accented by saber-like chops, can’t be denied. In this battle of the Gatoh Move rookies, who will emerge victorious in the final ChocoPro of 2020?

Lulu Pencil vs. Sayaka Obihiro vs. Rin Rin and Toru Owashi (ChocoPro Debut)

It can be argued that Lulu Pencil is the biggest underdog of 2020. Though she has failed to come out victorious in singles competition, it has been her undying spirit that made her one of the most beloved wrestlers in Gatoh Move. With her Pencil Army by her side, Lulu Pencil has been able to move forward, becoming stronger in the process. In this upcoming tag team match, she will team with Sayaka Obihiro, a veteran star that helped build Gatoh Move in its early years. Obihiro’s experience may serve Lulu Pencil well in this tag team encounter.

On the other side of Ichigaya Chocolate Square will stand Rin Rin, who made her return on the Christmas Day edition of ChocoPro. Gatoh Move’s “Master of Ceremonies” is determined to bring her own style to the show. On this episode, she will stand alongside Toru Owashi, who will make his ChocoPro debut. Owashi wrestles largely for DDT as one of the members of the DISASTER BOX faction. Owashi has won several DDT titles, including the KO-D Openweight Championship once and the KO-D Tag Team Championship twice. Though Owashi has appeared for Gatoh Move over the years, this will be his first ChocoPro appearance. Alongside Rin Rin, can he make it a win?

Asia Dream Tag Team Championship: Reset (Emi Sakura and Kaori Yoneyama) (c) vs. Best Bros (Mei Suruga and Baliyan Akki)

This is the match that the last several episodes of ChocoPro has been building toward. Best Bros, the duo of Mei Suruga and Baliyan Akki, can be considered one of the top teams in Gatoh Move. Whenever Gatoh Move’s “Apple Girl” and the “Ace” of ChocoPro unite, there are few tandems better. However, what has eluded them up until now has been tag team gold. The Asia Dream Tag Team Championship, the perennial tag team title in Gatoh Move, has been held by Emi Sakura and Kaori Yoneyama, overwise known as Reset.

Anyone familiar with the history of Joshi wrestling is familiar with the shared history of Sakura and Yoneyama. As Reset, they have been successful in multiple promotions, including PURE-J and Ice Ribbon. Most recently, back in March, Reset bested Tropikawild, the tandem of Yuna Mizumori and SAKI, for the Asia Dream Tag Team Championship. However, up until now, Sakura and Yoneyama have yet to defend the titles. For this reason alone, the New Year’s Eve edition of ChocoPro is essential viewing.

To say that Best Bros winning this match would be big would be an understatement. First, if Best Bros win, “Mei-chan” would claim her first-ever championship in professional wrestling. Second, it would mark Akki’s first stint as a tag team champion; keep in mind that he was a three-time Intercontinental Champion for Wrestle Square located in his home country, India. Can the plucky Best Bros defeat the reigning champions, ending the year on a high note? Tune into this upcoming episode of ChocoPro to find out.
