Preview: Gatoh Move ChocoPro #38 (8/7/20)

ChocoPro

ChocoPro season three began with episode thirty-seven. To say that it set the stage would be an understatement, from the ChocoPro debut of joshi star to a collection of exciting matches that have become a mainstay of the show. This episode will be no different; in fact, judging by the card, this may be one of the most stacked episodes yet. Without any further delay, let’s take a deep dive into the upcoming thirty-eighth episode!

Mei Suruga vs. SAKI (ChocoPro Debut)

Longtime Gatoh Move Pro Wrestling fans will be familiar with SAKI. While this colorful star has been involved in various promotions, specifically Actwres girl’Z, she has been incredibly successful in Gatoh Move. She is the promotion’s only three-time Asia Dream Tag Team Champion, winning the title once alongside MIZUKI and twice with “The Pineapple Girl” Yuna Mizumori. Simply put, if SAKI is involved in a match, be it singles or tags, she will pose a fair challenge.

This will be no different for Mei Suruga, who will enter this match as one of the most popular stars in Gatoh Move. She will have even more to prove in this match, given her loss to Makoto on the last episode of ChocoPro. “Mei-chan” may have started season three on a shaky note, but keep in mind that we are still early into the season in question. There is still plenty of time for Suruga to not only pick up victories but be in the running for season three of MVP. Will this happen at the expense of SAKI, who will be making her ChocoPro debut? Tune into this episode to find out.

MonTsuru (Mitsuru Konno and Yuna Mizumori) vs. Reset (Emi Sakura and Kaori Yoneyama)

Those that are familiar with the extensive careers of Emi Sakura and Kaori Yoneyama will know of their history as a tag team. Since 2009, they teamed across Japan and won gold in different promotions, including Ice Ribbon. Most recently, earlier this March, they defeated the team of SAKI and Yuna Mizumori, collectively known as Tropikawild, to capture the Asia Dream Tag Team Champion. As the only titleholders in Gatoh Move, it goes without saying that they are the team to beat in the promotion.

Despite their success as a tandem, Sakura and Yoneyama will have a sizable challenge ahead of them. Mizumori and Mitsuru Konno were in the running for MVP of ChocoPro season two; Konno ended up taking home said victory. On the final episode of season two, Konno and Mizumori gave Best Bros., the duo of Mei Suruga and Baliyan Akki, a challenging fight as well. Can Konno and Mizumori, collectively known as MonTsuru, take down Gatoh Move’s only titleholders in the form of Reset? This will be one tag team encounter not to miss.

Lulu Pencil vs. Baliyan Akki

On the previous episode of ChocoPro, Lulu Pencil made a surprising accusation. She teamed with fellow Pencil Army member Emi Sakura to take on Tokiko Kirihara. Despite their best – and at times, crafty – efforts, Pencil Army was unable to defeat the “Super Rookie.” Following this loss, Lulu Pencil declared that the real “handicap” was Sakura herself. In response, Sakura made a match for her upcoming 25th-anniversary show. During this event, Lulu Pencil will take on Kirihara in singles competition.

Before this match takes place, Lulu Pencil will take on another sizable challenge in the form of Baliyan Akki. Not only has Akki served as a translator and commentator for ChocoPro, but he has one of the best win-loss records in the show’s history. Furthermore, he has faced Lulu Pencil on multiple occasions, defeating her time and time again. However, what fans may have noticed is that, with each match, the freelance writer herself seems to become stronger and stronger. As her strength continues to build, she may find herself picking up her first singles victory. This will be yet another match to keep your eyes on.

ChocoPro #38 will air on August 7th at 8 PM JST (7 AM EST and 9 PM CST.)

It will air live on the Gatoh Move YouTube channel for free before being available for on-demand viewing afterward. To support the company, you can sign up for their Patreon, which features multiple tiers, or their own on-demand streaming service linked below.
