After the injury to Joey Janela forced him to vacate the WWN title, EVOLVE had to get themselves a new champion. A six-man ladder match was made to crown a new champion. In the end, JD Drake emerged victorious overcoming AR Fox, Austin Theory, Anthony Henry,Darby Allin and Harlem Bravado to become the new WWN Champion. Drake has won tag team gold before in EVOLVE as part of the Workhorsemen alongside Anthony Henry (who recently won the Full Impact Pro World Championship himself).

On a night when EVOLVE crowned all new champions, two of which came from NXT, JD Drake is an EVOLVE guy that won the title, which interestingly was the main event of this show. Since the FloSlam deal was canceled, the positioning of the EVOLVE and WWN titles has been a point of discussion for EVOLVE fans, but with Aichner capturing the EVOLVE title and JD Drake capturing the WWN title, we may finally see a division emerge as the EVOLVE title can be the NXT superstars title and the WWN is for the EVOLVE guys. As for the choice of Drake as champion, it seems like the right move. There are no clear stars in EVOLVE right now to win the title and Drake has the in-ring ability to keep the fans happy and put on great matches both singles and tag while the company builds new stars around him.
Congratulations @RealJDDrake you’re the man! Well deserved, Don’t do the job to the corporate titan… https://t.co/IAldGhECgX
