For the first time ever in a professional ring, Rey Mysterio will be going one on one with Shinsuke Nakamura next week on Smackdown Live. The King of Strong Style, who is also the current WWE United States Champion, will be going head to head with WWE’s most recent returning legend, in a match to qualify for the upcoming World Cup Tournament. This tournament will take place on Friday, November 2nd, at the Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia, and will be an eight man, single elimination tournament that will take place all in one night, with four participants from the Monday Night Raw brand, and four participants from the SmackDown Live brand.
Rey Mysterio Dream Match Set
This first ever match up between these two respected veterans has gotten lots of fans buzzing, as the clashing styles and larger than life aura that both men bring to the table will make this match seem like it’s happening on a much larger stage than just a weekly television show. To many, it feels like a dream match that you did not know you wanted, and considering the in ring quality that these two can provide, it would be no stretch of the imagination to think that they will deliver a memorable contest, and perhaps even the best match to happen on SmackDown Live television all year long. Mysterio is returning to WWE for the first time since his one off Royal Rumble appearance in January, where he showed off to the WWE audience that hasn’t been following him on the indies that he still has what it takes to perform at a high level. It will be mark the first time he returning to a regular schedule with WWE since 2015. Nakamura was one of the top performers in New Japan Pro Wrestling before coming to the WWE, where his legendary reign as the IWGP Intercontinental Champion there helped establish the new belt there as a big deal. For those that have been following world wide wrestling for a long time, this match will pair up two of the top performers in the last twenty years.
