Make way for King Creed and Prince Pretty as this week it was announced that Tyler Breeze and Xavier Woods will be playable characters in the MyGM mode of WWE2K23
In 2019, WWE‘s Xavier Woods and Tyler Breeze embarked in a head-to-head competition titled Battle of the Brands. The competition saw Breeze and Woods draft rosters and then put on competing cards across a series of older WWE video game titles, the first two seasons of which were WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw 2006. First introduced in that game, GM Mode, allowed players to take on the role of the general manager for either Raw or SmackDown with the game’s stated goal of “winning the GM of the Year award.” MyGM also served as the vehicle for the competition between Woods and Breeze, which saw them “each select a WWW brand and draft respective rosters to face-off in a head-to-head matchup to see who will best dominate sports entertainment.” In season one, Woods helmed SmackDown while Breeze took the reigns on Raw. This pattern continued throughout the series, which is now on season four (WWE2K22) and has continued despite Breeze no longer being on the WWE roster. And while Woods and Breeze playing MyGM Mode may not have been the only factor that led to the return of the mode to 2K22 following a 15-year absence, it’s hard to believe it didn’t impact the decision in some way.

With that in mind and playing off the success of Battle of the Brands, which has nearly 1M views for season one’s brand draft, WWE2K23 announced that both Woods and Breeze’s characters will be playable in the MyGM mode in the upcoming game, set to be released on March 17th. WWE made this announcement as part of the UpUpDownDown roster ratings reveal where Xavier Woods led a panel of Bayley, Dakota Kai, Big E, and Tyler Breeze in guessing the game ratings for their fellow superstars and legends. Breeze’s reveal in the game came as a surprise, announced at the end of the ratings reveal special. As a playable character, Breeze is recognized as a legend given he is not a current roster superstar. Needless to say, as Breeze donned a Goldberg shirt repurposed to say “Breezeberg” and feature his face instead, it made for a comical moment to end the panel and the show.

In addition to Woods and Breeze being playable GMs, WWE2K23 had previously announced improvements to this year’s MyGM including more GMs to choose to play as, multiple seasons (last year’s ended after WrestleMania requiring players to start over), expanded match cards, additional match types including up to four players, and additional show options beyond SmackDown and Raw.
