Opinion: With Tony Khan Desperately Needing HELP, Al Snow Should ‘Head’ to AEW

Al Snow

When Al Snow was in WWE, he was known for many things, notably carrying around a mannequin head with the words “HELP ME!” written on its forehead.

Perhaps it’s time for AEW owner Tony Khan to paint those same words on his own head. Because it’s pretty obvious that the man who promised to be the alternative to WWE has run into trouble. If stories are to be believed, his locker room is in disarray right now. Someone needs to show up to help straighten out the mess. That person could very well be Al Snow. He certainly has the qualifications for it.

As the man behind Ohio Valley Wrestling, Snow has a proven track record. Not only in the development of his talent, but in dealing with a lot of politics. As a former WWE Superstar and trainer, he’s had to juggle similar problems himself.

His experience and intelligence would serve Khan well if he were given that opportunity. In fact, it could be a perfect match. The AEW President has long been criticized for not hiring a ‘wrestling guy’ to be his booker. And while he’s surrounded himself with some very talented people and intelligent minds, he’s insisted that he be the man to steer the boat.

Now, His Boat Is Rocking… And He Needs Someone to Still the AEW Waters

Snow’s time working backstage with WWE and IMPACT Wrestling, as well as his very successful tenure with OVW, has shown that he can work with young talent. He’s able to nurture them while giving tough love at the same time. The All Elite roster could use that type of level-headedness right about now.

Because of his vision, he lobbied the State of Kentucky to actually make his academy an accredited school. He was successful, and his students now attend the University of Al. They even have their own dorm rooms.

All because someone had the foresight to come up with the idea. There are numerous talents working today that can thank him for how he helped them along.

In between that, he juggles being a product endorser and making appearances as well. So, while his schedule is pretty full right now? It’s doubtful that he would back down from the challenge of taking AEW’s reigns.

There are many names out there that have proven themselves in the past as promoters and bookers. So while Snow may not be the ‘end-all-be-at-all’ answer that many might think, he’s a really good fit for Mr. Khan. He brings no baggage or personal animosity coming through the door. He’s genuinely respected by nearly everyone in the industry, which is never a bad quality to have in a leader.

Sadly, All Elite Wrestling Has a Lack of Leadership. It’s Becoming Harder and Harder to Hide

Following the debacle that was the fallout from All Out, the whispers have grown into roars. Many people backstage have voiced their displeasure. It started out privately, but it’s spilt out to the general public.

No matter how much Tony Khan has downplayed it, he’s in trouble right now. He needs help. And much like Al Snow’s mannequin head, it’s written all over his face. What the AEW owner set out to do in the beginning was very noble. No one can doubt his efforts, but they’re failing right now. He needs someone to come in and be his right-hand man.

Snow could be that tag team partner that Tony is so desperately in need of right now. Someone with experience and knowledge that will work with him, and not against him. He has displayed a creative mind, an unquestioned work ethic, and an ability to manage people.

Ironically, the man who was portrayed as unstable might just be the stable hand that AEW needs right now. If not Al Snow, then someone very much like him. A veteran of the industry who has basically been on all sides of it. He could be there to have Khan’s back when needed and step out front whenever necessary.

That’s why he could be a perfect pairing with the much-maligned promoter. They would likely work well together.

After all? It’s like the saying goes: Two HEADS are better than one.
