Preview: WWE Raw (9/9/24) – Bret Hart Set For Season Premiere

A WWE Raw match graphic.

Bret Hart will appear on the season premiere of WWE Raw from his hometown of Calgary in Canada.

Aside from “The Hitman“, there’s a street fight so big it’s bound to burst out of the Scotia Bank Saddledome, a Women’s Tag Team Championship bout, and the finals of the Intercontinental Championship No.1 Contender tournament.

Here’s our full preview of the season premiere of WWE Raw on the USA Network at 8/7c.

Match Card WWE Raw (9/9/24)

  • 8-Person Street Fight: “The Wyatt Sicks” Erick Rowan, Joe Gary, Dexter Lumis & Nikki Cross (w/ Uncle Howdy) vs. “American Made” Chad Gable, The Creed Brother & Ivy Nile
  • Intercontinental Championship No.1 Contender Tournament: Jey Uso vs. Ilja Dragunov vs. Pete Dunne vs. Braun Strowman
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Bianca Bel Air & Jade Cargill vs. “The Unholy Union” Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn
  • Bret “The Hitman” Hart To Appear

Is “The Hitman” Set To Give A Prep Talk?

Nine years ago Sami Zayn made his WWE Raw debut. Bret Hart introduced him as a future top star in WWE. Almost a decade on, Zayn is a top star but he’s yet to hold the main prize in WWE.

A match with Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship seems on the horizon. Zayn believes he has the number of the man he beat at WrestleMania 40. But Hart could light even more of a fuse under Zayn.

Hart almost definitely won’t mention the Mr.McMahon Netflix docuseries he will appear as a talking head on later this month.

Intercontinental No.1 Contender Tournament Final

“Big” Bronson Reed was pulled from the Intercontinental Championship No.1 contender tournament because he has COVID-19. Sorry, is it still 2020?

Reed is probably at home suffering from a loss of taste and smell. But there will definitely still be a bad taste in his mouth for not being able to make the final. Reed was undoubtedly the favorite to win.

Braun Strowman replaced him in the semifinal and earned a place in the final thanks to Pete Dunne hitting Sheamus with a Shillelagh.

Dunne, Strowman, Jey Uso and Ilja Dragunov will fight for a shot at Bron Breakker’s championship. Read our full feature on this match here.

For those who want a brief overview on the match … Uso needs to win to stop being the almost guy in WWE, Dunne will probably feel the rath of a Sheamus interference, Strowman will have the size advantage and Dragunov will look to continue to be one of the breakout stars in 2024 with a win.

Halloween Comes Early To The Streets of Calgary

Residents of Calgary should lock their doors and windows ahead of Monday night as the creepy “Wyatt Sicks” will battle “Amercian Made” in a street fight.

An 8-person street fight will be a shocking sight that could occupy the whole arena and perhaps even the surrounding areas.

Women’s Tag Team Championship

The match between champions Jade Cargill and Bianca Bel Air and Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn could be more about who isn’t in the ring than who is.

Less than 48 hours after losing the Women’s Tag Team Championship at Bash In Berlin to Bel Air and Cargill, Fyre and Dawn became the number one contenders.

“The Unholy Union’s” victory over “Damage CTRL” saw the champs get involved, leaving Kairi Sane blooded. Sane and IYO SKY might seek revenge in this match.

There’s also the looming threat of the “Pure Fusion Collective” who claim to run the WWE Raw women’s division. Never has there been a better moment for them to prove it.
