Jack Perry, formerly known as Jungle Boy captured the FTW Championship from Hook at the 2023 edition of Blood and Guts. Although the main event is certain to be newsworthy, the event had a fast start to it.

The match quickly got out of hand as the two brawled in the crowd early on. The match had a controversial finish as referee Paul Turner went down, allowing Perry to use the FTW Championship as a weapon to pick up the win.
This win not only ended Hook’s title reign but also ended the AEW undefeated singles run of Hook. Taz, who is Hook’s father was on commentary for the call and was not happy with how the match ended.
Before Perry made his entrance, a video aired showing Perry burying the boots he wore as Jungle Boy in the middle of the desert. He walked out to different, much darker entrance music as his shedding of the Jungle Boy gimmick seems to be complete.
The two had an alliance that ended when Perry attacked Hook following Perry’s loss to Sanada at the 2023 Forbidden Door event. Hook has been trying to get his hands on Perry for weeks to no avail, but was unable to defeat Perry tonight.
