After a brutal ladder match, The Lucha Brothers walked out of Supercard of Honor as the new ROH World Tag Team Champions. They were greeted by Mark Briscoe and FTR after the match to celebrate and pay tribute to Jay Briscoe.
The Wrestler Brings Home Gold
Katsuyori Shibata defeated Wheeler Yuta to become the ROH Pure Champion. Yuta had been taunting and calling out Shibata for a couple of weeks now and came back to haunt him at Supercard of Honor. Shibata also made his presence felt after the main event as he came to the aid of Eddie Kingston to even the score against the Blackpool Combat Club.
Supercard of Honor Results and Analysis
It was surprising to see Mark Briscoe not walk out as ROH World Television Champion. It seems the story between him and Samoa Joe is far from over. With Shibata winning the ROH Television Title hopefully, ROH fans will get to see him featured on ROH television as that can only help the rebooted brand.
The Lucha Brothers walking out as ROH Tag Team Champions likely also means we will see more of them on ROH television as the tag division starts to take shape. The Righteous reappearing also adds another layer to the division. Dante Martin seemed to suffer a broken ankle in the match. We wish him all the best and hope he has a full and speedy recovery. Nigel McGuniess coming back to ROH was also fun to see. Time will tell if we will see more of him in the new iteration of ROH.
The story between Eddie Kingston and The Blackpool Combat Club seems to be far from over as Shibata is now in the corner of Kingston.
