Reach for the Sky Boy

The Briscoes became the new Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions at Final Battle 2022. Unfortunately, Jay Briscoe was killed in a car accident on January 17th, 2023. His brother and tag team partner Mark Briscoe will look to bring home the ROH World Television Championship against Samoa Joe later in the night.

Ring of Honor will have new World Tag Team Champions at the end of Supercard of Honor. The belts will be suspended above the ring in the first-ever “Reach for the Sky” ladder match. The match is named in honor of the Briscoe’s signature entrance music. The Lucha Brothers, Top Flight, The Kingdom, Aussie Open, and La Facción Ingobernable will battle it out in a ladder match to determine the new Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions.

Emotions will surely be high as Jay Briscoe was and still is a big part of the history of both Ring of Honor and the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships. This match promises to deliver all the high-flying and fast-paced actions that these teams bring to the ring every time they step between the rope.

Is Yuta Too Confident?

Wheeler Yuta is the current Ring of Honor Pure Champion. With the iteration of Ring of Honor TV kicking off, Yuta wanted everyone to know that he is not the junior member of the Blackpool Combat Club. He issued an open challenge for the Pure Championship which was answered by Timothy Thatcher. Yuta was able to defeat Thatcher and turned his attention to the New Japan Pro Wrestling Dojo.

Clark Connors came to the defense of his dojo and had a showdown with Yuta for the belt. Yuta won that match and called out the one and only Katsuyori Shibata. Shibata is an NJPW legend and has been a key part of the NJPW Dojo system. Yuta is a talented in-ring technician, but Shibata is nothing short of an expert in the technical or “pure” style of wrestling.

A win for Yuta would cement his status at the top of the Pure Division. He will have to wrestle the best match of his career against Shibata if he is to walk out of Supercard of Honor 2023 with his Pure Championship in hand.

Will Honor be Retained?

Claudio Castagnoli dethroned Chris Jericho at Final Battle to become ROH World Champion for the second time. Now he will challenge a man who he has quite a history with, Eddie Kingston.

The two have exchanged jabs at each other on social media even before Claudio was part of All Elite Wrestling. When he did appear in AEW, the bad blood boiled over as the two were forced to work together as part of the Blackpool Combat Club versus Jericho Appreciation Society feud. Kingston has never been a part of the BCC unlike Claudio, but both have ties to BCC member Jon Moxley. Moxley made Kingston promise not to attack Claudio in AEW. Ring of Honor, however, is fair game.

Claudio successfully defended his Ring of Honor World Championship against AR Fox during the first episode of Ring of Honor television under the new regime. After the match, Kingston appeared and let Claudio know he was coming for the Ring of Honor World Championship.

Claudio has stated that Kingston will never hold the belt because he has no honor. The two have spent the last few weeks playing mind games with each other but will lock up at Supercard of Honor 2023.

Claudio has shown a more aggressive side to himself along with the rest of the BCC over the last few weeks. This could help him against Kingston, who is known for his striking and brawling abilities. It could also hurt him if he tries to play Kingston’s game instead of relying on his pure strength and technical wrestling ability. Find out who walks out of Los Angeles as champion, at Supercard of Honor 2023.
