ROH Final Battle 2022 Predictions
Athena Takes on Mercedes Martinez
Mercedes Martinez is looking to make it seven successful title defenses as she takes on Athena at Final Battle. The Athena that Martinez is taking on is not the Athena that we have seen in the early part of her tenure in AEW. Athena began to show a darker more aggressive side over the past couple of months. Athena has been attacking her opponents after she defeats them in the ring. Things escalated on the November 18th edition of AEW Rampage.
Athena had defeated Madison Rayne and began her post-match beatdown. Martinez confronted Athena making a return to AEW following an injury. Later in the month on Rampage, Athena called out Martinez, wanting a shot at the title. The match was granted and now we will see the darker and more aggressive Athena take on the power of Martinez at Final Battle 2022.
Prediction – Athena wins
World Championship Rematch
Claudio Castagnoli walked out of Death Before Dishonor as the ROH World Champion. Unfourtanetly for him he walked out of Dynamite Grand Slam without the Championship. Chris Jericho took the belt from him following a low blow that allowed him to get the win. Jericho has since adopted “The Ocho” moniker, alluding to his 8th overall World Championship run. He has defended the title against the likes of Tomohiro Ishii, Bryan Danielson, Colt Cabana, and Dalton Castle among others.
This rematch came to be on the Black Friday edition of AEW Rampage. Jericho along with the Jericho Appreciation Society came to the ring with Jericho claiming to be the best ROH Champion of all time. Claudio interrupted the segment and admitted he had been doubting himself lately but knows he can beat Jericho. Jericho laid out a challenge, claiming that Claudio is a great wrestler but a better sports entertainer. If Claudio loses the match he will be forced to join the JAS, but if he wins he will regain the ROH World Champion. Find out who walks out of Final Battle 2022 as the ROH World Champion this Saturday.
Prediction – Claudio wins
