ECW Legend The Sandman Returns to GCW
At GCW Wasted Time, The Sandman of ECW fame makes his return to Game Changer Wrestling. This kendo stick-wielding, beer-swilling brawler appeared for the promotion multiple times throughout the years, including making his signature entrance at Joey Janela’s Lost in New York back in August of 2018. For the uninitiated, The Sandman is regarded as one of ECW’s most iconic stars, “The Hardcore Icon” becoming a former ECW World Tag Team Champion and 5x ECW World Heavyweight Championship. While he competed for World Championship and, later on, WWE, it was in “The Land of Extreme” that The Sandman saw the lion’s share of his success. 90s wrestling fans in attendance this Saturday will be more than excited to belt out the lyrics to Enter Sandman as the man himself makes the aforementioned entrance.
The Sandman will be in action as he competes for the GCW Tag Team Championship, which is currently held by Los Macizos, the team of Ciclope and Miedo Extremo. However, the former multi-time ECW world titleholder won’t be alone, as he partners with fellow ECW alumnus 2 Cold Scorpio. As if the GCW Tag Team Champions aren’t enough of a challenge, this three-way tag team match also features Mance Warner and Matthew Justice of Second Gear Crew. With such a stacked lineup, it’s easy to see why this is one of the marquee bouts to keep an eye on. Will we see new tag team titleholders, whether in Second Gear Crew or “Team ECW,” or can Los Macizos maintain their hold on the GCW Tag Team Championship?
Nick Gage Makes His Second GCW World Title Defense
Another title to be contested this Saturday at Wasted Time will be the GCW World Championship. The reigning champion, Nick Gage, is set to defend the company’s top belt against former GCW Extreme Champion Cole Radrick. “The Man, The King, The God of This Sh*t” is currently in his third GCW world title reign, having reclaimed said title back in October at GCW Fight Club, Night 1. Boasting over 2 decades of wrestling experience, Gage is known for not only being a deathmatch veteran but one of the most popular wrestlers in GCW, his connection with the company’s loyal fans being arguably the strongest of any wrestler to pass through the company in question. However, at the age of 42, many fans wonder how much longer Gage can continue to wrestle at this level. Ergo, it’s easy to wonder how much longer he will hold onto the GCW World Championship.
The latest wrestler to step up to the plate is Radrick, who has been enjoying considerable momentum heading into GCW Wasted Time. Not only did he have a solid showing in the Nick Gage Invitational 7 tournament but, more recently, he picked up a victory against Toshiyuki Sakuda at Wisconsin Death Trip. “The Raddy Daddy” has fully embraced deathmatch wrestling, his GCW Extreme Championship reign seeing successful defenses against the likes of Charli Evans, Colby Corino, and Tony Deppen. Though he lost the Extreme title to Joey Janela at GCW Fight Club, Night 2, Radrick has his sights set higher; to be more specific, the GCW World Championship. See how this match between a seasoned veteran and a deathmatch wrestler on the rise will unfold at Wasted Time.
GCW Wasted Time will take place in Sauget, Illinois on December 3, 2022.
