Claudio Castagnoli Interrupts Jonathan Gresham on Rampage

With his interruption, Claudio sent a message to Gresham. He wants the opportunity to challenge Gresham and declare himself the best hold-for-hold wrestler in the world. Shortly after this encounter, the match was made official. Claudio will challenge Gresham for the ROH World Title at Death Before Dishonor. The event will take place on July 23rd live from Lowell Massachusets. This will be the second ROH pay-per-view under the ownership of Tony Khan. Gresham unified the ROH World Championship with his win over Bandido at Supercard of Honor earlier this year.

Gresham betrayed his former protege Lee Moriarty on Rampage and aligned himself with Tully Blanchard and Tully Blanchard Enterprises. The turn came as a shock to many as Gresham had been considered the foundation of Ring of Honor and everything that it stood for.

Claudio made his AEW debut at the AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) co-branded event Forbidden Door. He defeated Zach Sabre Jr. in his debut match before going on to be part of Blood and Guts the following Wednesday on Dynamite. Claudio and his fellow Blackpool Combat Club teammates defeated the Jerhico Appreciation Society in the match titular match. Claudio has a storied history with Ring of Honor and is a two-time ROH World Tag Team Champion.
