Report: WWE Monday Night Raw Moving to TV-14 Rating Starting July 18

WWE Raw Moves to TV 14

Per Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast, World Wrestling Entertainment is set to change its long-standing TV-PG rating for Monday Night Raw. Starting with the July 18, 2022 episode, WWE Raw on USA Network will now be rated TV-14. This effectively puts an end to the aforementioned PG rating, which was set in place back in 2008. With this move came a change in televised content, which became more family-friendly, including less emphasis on blood. It’s unknown what WWE Raw’s new TV-14 rating will entail from a content standpoint moving forward.

WWE Raw Rated TV-14

What to Know Regarding TV Rating Change

On July 22, 2008, WWE announced its transition to TV-PG programming. In the initial announcement, the company made the following announcement on its website:

“WWE’s family programming has been deemed a PG television rating by their network distributors. World Wrestling Entertainment has been engaging families across all generations with their family programming for more than two decades, and will continue to do so for years to come with all the action on Raw, SmackDown and ECW.”

With the shift to PG programming, WWE became a more approachable entity for not only families but sponsors as well. WWE’s sponsorship partners include, but aren’t limited to, Cricket Wireless, DoorDash, and Toyota. Furthermore, WWE has been able to establish partners with prominent network entities, FOX being the most notable example. It’s also unknown whether WWE Raw moving to a TV-14 rating will impact Friday Night SmackDown.
