#AndNEW: Liv Morgan Becomes SmackDown Women’s Champion

Liv Morgan SmackDown Women's Champion

Liv Morgan is the new SmackDown Women’s Champion. Morgan cashed in her Money in the Bank contract after winning it earlier in the night at the Money in the Bank premium live event, pinning Ronda Rousey to become the new champion after Rousey had successfully defended her championship against Natalya seconds earlier. Natalya worked the leg of Rousey, who was hobbled for the majority of the match. When Morgan cashed in, it looked to be all for naught as Rousey instantly locked in the Ankle Lock. Forutnetyl for Morgan, she’d spin and kick out the injured leg of Rousey before rolling her up for the three count and to become champion for the first time in her career.

After pinning Rousey, the former champion embraced Morgan who achieved her career goal of being champion.

Morgan’s successful cash in continues the trend for the winner of Women’s Money in the Bank. Besides Carmella (the first winner), the Women’s Money in the Bank has been cashed in within 24 hours of winning it. She also joins Alexa Bliss and Bayley, who both cashed in the contract at the same show in which they won it.

It remains to be seen who will be stepping up to Morgan, but it seems more than likely that she walks into SummerSlam as the SmackDown Women’s Champion. There’s sure to be a long line ready to step up and take her on.
