The Opportunity of a Lifetime
After his momentous world title win over Hangman Page, CM Punk got into the groove of things as he teamed up with FTR to beat the cocky Gunn Club and Max Caster on last week’s Dynamite. Unfortunately, just mere days later on AEW Rampage, CM Punk addressed the #AllElite fans and disclosed an injury that will keep him on the shelf for a bit. However, Punk made it explicitly clear that once he’s back, he’ll pick off right where we started.
Due to Punk’s injury, AEW management has chosen to sanction a Battle Royale to kick off Dynamite. The winner of the Battle Royale will advance to the main event and battle number one ranked Jon Moxley. And, the victor in that match will advance to Forbidden Door and compete to be the Interim AEW World Champion. With the chance of a lifetime on the line, who will come out on top?
Back to Some Cowboy Sh-t
“Hangman” Adam Page fought valiantly to keep the AEW World Championship back at Double or Nothing. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to ward off the onslaught and desire of CM Punk. The match saw near fall after near fall, with both men laying it all in the ring. However, when the dust settled, Punk claimed his first world championship in almost 10 years.
After a week’s work of rest, Page returns to AEW Dynamite after his heartbreaking loss, as “The Hangman” faces off against NJPW’s own David Finlay. The NJPW star is a 10-year veteran, despite being only 29 years of age. In his prominent decade-long career, Finlay has struck tag team gold in prominent companies like the aforementioned NJPW and IMPACT Wrestling.
David Finlay has the opportunity to add the biggest feather to his cap if he manages to beat a former AEW World Champion in his AEW debut. However, Page will definitely be in a fighting mood after his world title loss. The “Forbidden Door” opens once again; Page vs. Finlay! Something’s got to give. It all goes down this Wednesday live on TNT!
