In one of the featured segments of this week’s Monday Night Raw, The Miz hosted a Miz TV segment, his guest being the new WWE United States Champion, Theory. During the segment in question, The Miz hyped up Theory, telling him that whoever stepped up to him for a title opportunity would have to earn it. This would lead to one of the major surprises of the night. Earlier in the show, Asuka returned to Raw, confronting Becky Lynch. During the aforementioned Miz TV segment, the second major return of the night took place; Mustafa Ali returned to Monday Night Raw, his sights set on championship gold.
Miz and Theory taunted Mustafa Ali, asking him if he still worked there, if he was really just Ali’s brother, not unlike Ezekiel to Elias, among other jabs. Ali shot back, saying that if he wanted to laugh, he would just watch The Miz wrestle. Furthermore, Ali hoped to hear that Theory was holding an open challenge for the United States Championship. Ali laid down the challenge to Theory for the United States title. Theory quickly turned down the challenge. Ali replied, accusing him of being “all biceps and no balls,” even taking a dig at The Miz.
From there, following a text exchange between Theory and Vince McMahon, a match between The Miz and Ali was made official. The Miz accepted the match, telling Ali that he would make him wish he received his walking papers. Mustafa Ali emerged victorious in his Raw return match, picking up a pinfall victory over The Miz. Post-match, as he made his way back up the ramp, Ali was attacked by Tommaso Ciampa.

Mustafa Ali Returns on Monday Night Raw
What to Know Regarding Major Return on Raw
Mustafa Ali was last seen on WWE programming on the October 29, 2021 edition of Friday Night SmackDown. On this show, he faced Drew McIntyre in a losing effort. The following January, after months of absence from programming, Ali announced that he requested his release from the company.
“I have a message that is much bigger than my dreams in pro wrestling,” Ali said on Twitter. “Despite my best efforts, I will not be able to deliver this message while working with WWE. Therefore, I am requesting my release from WWE.”
Despite this, his release wasn’t granted and he would remain on the sidelines in the months that followed.
