Shinjiro Otani Update: Cervical Spinal Cord Injury Diagnosis

Pro Wrestling ZERO1 have issued an update on the condition and diagnosis of Shinjiro Otani. The Japanese veteran was taken to hospital following ZERO1’s anniversary show where Otani suffered an injury during the main event that caused the match to end abruptly. Otani was competing for the promotion’s world title against Pro Wrestling NOAH competition Takashi Sugiura but was unresponsive after taking a german suplex into the corner. The match ended thereafter with the show closing promo taking place while Otani lay motionless in the corner.

Shinjiro Otani Update

The promotion’s update has revealed that the official diagnosis is that Shinjiro Otani suffered a Cervical Spinal Cord injury with surgery being performed on April 13 to deal with the issue. While ZERO1 representatives have not been able to see Otani directly they are told that he is conscious and speaking with family and doctors.

Former WWE and current Stardom competitor KAIRI has stated that part of her merchandise sales from her 10th-anniversary collection will be donated to Otani’s medical fund. If we become aware of any other fundraising efforts we will be sure to bring them to attention in further updates.

Last Word on Pro Wrestling once again joins the entire wrestling community in wishing the best for Shinjiro Otani in his recovery from this injury.
