On this week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown, appropriately dubbed WrestleMania SmackDown, multiple competitors took part in the 2022 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. What was once an institution of the Mania event proper has become part of the company’s weekly programming; this was a trend that began last year. Ultimately, the match whittled down to the final four competitors: Robert Roode, NXT Champion Dolph Ziggler, Finn Balor, and Madcap Moss. Though Balor stuck it through as one of the final two men, it was Moss that would finally eliminate the United States Championship. Madcap Moss is the 2022 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner.

Madcap Moss Wins the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal
What to Know Following Battle Royal Victory on WrestleMania SmackDown
Following his Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal victory, Madcap Moss took the mic at ringside. He celebrated beside the Andre the Giant trophy at ringside, claiming he won the match all by himself. He followed up, saying he always looked up to Andre. Moss considered Andre a hero, saying they were both beloved by all. Moss wrapped up with a joke, “What do you call a battle royal named after the smartest Texans around? A cattle royal!”
This victory marks the first major accolade of Madcap Moss since first signing with the company in 2014. He would work NXT and live events from there, eventually making his main roster debut on Monday Night Raw in early 2020. The following year, he joined forces with Happy Corbin, becoming the former Money in the Bank winner’s jocular right-hand man.
