Blake Christian vs. JONAH
In a series of first-time-ever matchups, we have Blake Christian taking on the monster JONAH! These two recently teamed together at night two of PWG’s 2022 Battle of Los Angeles. Following his departure from WWE, Christian hit the ground running in December 2021 and hasn’t stopped. He’s most recently had a tour with RIOT Wrestling Alliance in Mexico, along with regular jaunts in GCW and the NJPW Strong brand. JONAH signed with IMPACT Wrestling and has been destroying opponents left and right, ranging from Johnny Swinger, Zicky Dice, to PCO. This will certainly be an interesting contest to see at Lone Star Shootout, as their styles are as dissimilar as it gets.
“Speedball” Mike Bailey vs. “Switchblade” Jay White
This will be the first singles match between Mike Bailey and Jay White. White has been competing in the United States since July of 2021, mostly through the “Forbidden Door” partnership with IMPACT Wrestling. He’s also been a key part of the NJPW Strong brand as well as part of the NJPW America shows. What is interesting is that in the months both have been with the same promotion, we’ve not yet seen a singles encounter, which makes this special. These two have a very even matchup, being of similar sizes and styles. As part of Bullet Club, White has a tag team victory over Bailey, which took place back on the February 3rd episode of IMPACT. At Lone Star Shootout, we will find out if the Switchblade is mightier than the Speedball.
Chris Dickinson vs. Tomohiro Ishii
“The Dirty Daddy” Chris Dickinson has been away from the ring for almost four months following a devastating hip injury at NJPW Battle in the Valley. Doctors said he would be out around six months, however, due to his athletic build and ability, as well as some freakish genetics, he’s ready to go for WrestleMania week. Dickinson has bookings dotted all across the week, including a major one at Lone Star Shootout. He will take on a pillar of NJPW in the form of Tomohiro Ishii. Strong style will indeed evolve as these two bulls lock horns. Ishii’s 2022 has been on the skids, losing the NEVER Openweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 16 and going out in the first round of the recent New Japan Cup. Ishii will certainly be looking to assert his dominance with an outstanding performance. Will Dickinson be ready for this enormous challenge?
All of this and so much more is locked and loaded and ready for WrestleMania week at NJPW Strong’s Lone Star Shootout on April 1st beginning at 5:00 PM EST. If you are in the Dallas area, you are highly encouraged to pick up tickets if you can find them. If you can’t or aren’t in the immediate DFW area, you can also purchase the event on FITE.TV for USD 14.99.
