After a couple of weeks of rumors floating, it was made official that former WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard will be the recipient of the 2022 Warrior Award at this year’s WWE Hall of Fame.
Shad Gaspard is best known for being one half of the WWE tag team Cryme Tyme, composed of himself and tag team partner JTG. Though the duo never was able to win any titles within their time with the company, they were popular act during their time together from 2006 to 2010.
Though his time in the ring was never truly one that saw any major success, Gaspard was a figure that was very much liked backstage, though he was released by the company on November 19, 2010. However, Gaspard’s feats post-WWE in his real life certainly show why he is deserving of the WWE Warrior Award.

Shad Gaspard Announced as Warrior Award Recipient
On December 11, 2016, the former WWE Superstar was able to stop an armed robbery at a gas station in the town of Coral Springs, Florida. He was confronted by a drunk person carrying a loaded weapon who was attempting to rob the establishment. However, Gaspard was able to disarm the man and restrain him until the police arrived.
However, that was not his only heroic act. On May 17, 2020, Shad Gaspard was with his son in Venice Beach, California. A rip current, however, led to the father and son duo being dragged to sea. Lifeguards came to rescue, however, Gaspard was insistent that his son be the first to be secured. While his son, Aryeh Gaspard, was saved, Shad was however lost at sea. The Coast Guard mounted a search party. Former partner JTG alongside other WWE alumni John Morrison & Chris Masters joined. However, on May 20th, the body was unfortunately found. Shad Gaspard gave his life to make sure his son was safe.
Gaspard will be inducted by The Ultimate Warrior’s widow, Dana Warrior, as most recipients of the Warrior Award are. He joins the likes of Queen Sharmell, Big Van Vader & The Undertaker in the 2022 class of the WWE Hall Of Fame. The induction ceremony will be broadcasted live this next Friday, April 1st at 10 PM through Peacock.
