Sammy Guevara captured the TNT Championship tonight on Dynamite. He unified the interim title which he held with the TNT Title that was held by former champion Cody Rhodes.

Cody was scheduled to defend the title against Sammy at Battle of the Belts. Due to COVID-19 protocols, Cody was not able to compete that night. Sammy instead defeated Dustin Rhodes for the interim title. Last week during an in-ring promo Cody laid out the challenge for the titles to be unified in a ladder match. The match opened up Dynamite and saw Sammy capture the TNT Title for the second time in his career. The match spilled out into the crowd and saw Cody suplex, Sammy, off of the top of a ladder.
He also used the ladder as a weapon on multiple occasions. Things turned for Sammy when he hit a cutter over one of the ladders, sending Cody crashing to the canvas. The offense was short-lived as Cody hit a Cross-Rhodes off the top of a ladder. Fuego Del Sol became involved and Sammy was able to hit a big dive off of a ladder to cement his victory.
Cody defeated Sammy for the TNT Title at the Holiday Bash in December. This gave Cody his third reign as TNT Champion, the most of any wrestler in AEW.
