At Dragon Gate’s The Gate of Origin 2021, the Open the Twin Gate Championship changed hands. During the event in question, Naruki Doi and Takashi Yoshida defeated Susumu Yokosuka and King Shimizu for the Open the Twin Gate titles. With this victory, they ended the reign of Yokosuka and Shimizu at 119 days and three defenses. Even prior to their Open the Twin Gate title victory, Doi and Yoshida teamed up consistently since the retirement of Doi’s longtime partner, Masato Yoshino.
The new DoiYoshi captured lightning in the bottle with the new team. Furthermore, this victory at The Gate of Origin 2021 saw Naruki Doi capture his seventh Open The Twin Gate Championship, as well as marked Yoshida’s fifth reign with the belt. Both men are without a unit, but maybe with this win, it could intrigue some factions. On the flipside, this victory may encourage the two to start their own group in Dragon Gate. Only time will tell, and as of now, no challengers have emerged.
