Amidst the chaos of this week’s Monday Night Raw, much of it revolving around the recovery of Vince McMahon’s missing golden egg, there were several matches peppered throughout. Among the most notable was Nikki A.S.H. and Rhea Ripley defending the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against Queen Zelina and Carmella. The aforementioned team has been together for a few months, targeting the women’s tag team titleholders. This week, the challengers met their toughest challenge to date, as a team. By the time the proverbial dust settled, Queen Zelina and Carmella stood tall as the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
The match approached its conclusion when Nikki A.S.H. attempted to come to the aid of Rhea Ripley, who had been attacked on the outside by Carmella. This allowed the challengers to overcome A.S.H. now that the numbers game was in their favor. Queen Zelina picked up the pinfall victory, securing the women’s tag team title win for her and Carmella.

Queen Zelina and Carmella, the New WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions
With this victory, Queen Zelina and Carmella have become WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions for the first time. Carmella amassed a number of accomplishments since moving to the main roster in July 2016. She won the first-ever Women’s Money in the Bank match in 2017, cashing in her opportunity on Charlotte Flair to capture the SmackDown Women’s Championship. She also held the 24/7 Championship on 2 occasions.
Meanwhile, Queen Zelina’s accomplishments in WWE are less diverse. For the majority of her time in the company, across 2 stints, she was primarily a manager. She was most successful alongside Andrade, leading him to the NXT Championship. The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship is her first title earned in the company. However, she has experience in the women’s tag team wrestling scene, having captured the Women’s Knockout Tag Team Championship in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling alongside Sarita in 2011.
