In arguably the most shocking decision of the WWE Draft 2021, 2020 Summer Olympic Games gold medalist Gable Steveson has been drafted to Monday Night Raw. In addition to winning gold in the Olympics last year, he achieved accolades at different points in his athletic career. Such accomplishments include, but aren’t limited to, the Pan American Continental wrestling championship and the NCAA Division I National Championship. Given his accomplishments in amateur wrestling and otherwise, all eyes are on Steveson as he prepares for his eventual move to the red brand.

Gable Steveson Drafted to Raw – What to Know
This past September, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that WWE was the next destination for Gable Steveson. What fueled speculation further was a tweet made by Steveson, as he posted, “just put the pen to paper.” It was unknown what this was in regard to, though many signs pointed to WWE. The company would later confirm the news, revealing that Steveson signed to the company’s first-ever NIL deal. Under this exclusive agreement, Steveson will perform for the company while defending his NCAA Championship for the University of Minnesota.
A longtime professional wrestling fan in his own right, Gable Steveson had been involved in the company in a non-employment capacity. Earlier this year, he was an invited guest to SummerSlam earlier this year. Along with Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar, Steveson is among an elite class of successful amateur wrestlers that made the transition to professional wrestling.
