If you don’t know who Zicky Dice is, you’re absolutely about to find out about the next marketing mega-star in professional wrestling. Earlier this week, Fightful Select reported that Zicky Dice signed a multi-year deal with IMPACT Wrestling, and I couldn’t help but immediately be stoked to ponder upon the possibilities of what Dice can do in the company.
“The Outlandish” Zicky Dice possesses the strengths and qualities of the perfect modern wrestler: Internet presence, charisma, and good in-ring skill. Dice not only has all of these things on lock, but he’s better than most wrestlers at them.
Let’s start with his Twitch channel. A number of wrestlers have Twitch channels these days, but Dice’s channel is on another level. He puts out an array of very fun and entertaining content with shows like Lizards Of Love, Watch-A-Longs, Walk-A-Longs, and more. If you don’t believe me, well, see for yourself:
Dice’s character is like something out of a 1980s daydream. He wears a bright and colorful leather jacket, neon glasses, and a matching fanny pack to the ring while coming out to retro-style video game music.
If you’ve never seen Dice’s wrestling, I’d recommend checking out some of his National Wrestling Alliance work. Despite only participating in a short handful of matches, this is where I discovered Dice myself and have kept up with him ever since. During his run, he was able to capture the NWA World Television Championship from Ricky Starks – which holds a special place in my heart because it was the first match I ever got to recap in my journalism career.
Dice’s charisma is off the charts and I feel like he’s going to fit in the IMPACT environment very well. With segments like Swinger’s Palace and WrestleHouse settling into IMPACT programming regularly over the past year, there should also be a place for something like Dice TV or something of that nature.
The Impact roster is very well-rounded. There exist high-flyers like Trey Miguel, Ace Austin, and TJP. There are technical masters like Josh Alexander and Deonna Purrazzo and interesting gimmicks like Su Yung and Rosemary. However, there’s really nobody on the roster quite like “Outlandish” Zicky Dice.
In the long run of things, Zicky Dice will be completely invaluable to IMPACT Wrestling. One can hope that Scott D’Amore and the upper management at IMPACT let Dice do some of the really creative, eye-popping fun stuff he got to do in the NWA and on Twitch for the past few months.
Overall, I’m really excited for Zicky Dice to make his IMPACT debut in the forthcoming weeks and hope he becomes a major player for the company.
